Towards that end, the 9/11 attack was designed by him to provoke an overreaction by the USA which would destablize the non-Islamicist regimes and radicalize the Arab populations. Bush thwarted Osama's plan at first, by restricting the response to 9/11 to simply overthrowing the Taliban regime in Afghanistan and ejecting Al Qaeda from Afghanistan.
However, by falsely tying the respone to 9/11 to Iraq and Saddam, Bush has finally given the kind of overreaction that Osama was originally looking for. If the presence of US troops in Saudi Arabia was sufficient to radicalize a large number of Saudis, just imagine what the invasion and occupation of Iraq by US troops will do.
We are also doing Osama's dirty work by overthrowing non-Islamicist regimes; we are making Osama's wet dreams come true, by overthrowing regimes which the local Islamicists would never have any hope of overthrowing by themselves. Like Afghanistan (where we are slowly getting bogged down; hence the lack of media coverage), if we want to see our compliant client regimes stay in power, and not be overthrown by Islamicists, we will have to leave a permanent occupation force; this in turn will further radicalize the local populations. It's a no-win situation; a tarpit which the neo-cons controlling the Bush administration are in a mad rush to push us into.
Just because you support Bush's foreign policy, does not mean that you have to be stupid, and stop thinking about cause and effect, and feel you have to disagree with every opponent of the war, on principle, facts-be-damned.

There's no doubt, we are definately living the result of 8 years of Clintoooon appeasement...there's no easy way out...
