Just got back from the grocery store and gas station....I was at the store by 9am and it was already starting to get busy...by the time I left the store there were people riding around searching for a parking spot.

The gas station was just as bad (here in NJ we don't pump our own gas - ha)
The poor h.s. kids working the morning shift were overwhelmed at all the cars.

I'm ready-I love the snow...just pray we don't lose power.

I heard it's started snowing in so jersey.....

We're in Bucks County -- just North of Philly -- we only had a few flakes, starting about a half-hour ago, it's still not heavy at all, more like flurries, but it is starting to come down more steadily -- the snow/no snow line must run right thru' South Philly -- I heard that the airport and New Jersey are already getting socked !

It wasn't supposed to start snowing here in Chester County until this afternoon. Well, I woke up today looking at 6" or so and still coming down strong.

Did it cover your gnomes?

The way this storm has panned out so far is reminiscent of many of the memorable snow events that affected Massachusetts during my lifetime. It is very difficult to forecast winter weather in this area and very rarely do the local mets have a snowstorm predicted from several days out. In fact, most of the big ones that really plastered us were originally forecasted to "move out to sea" as this one was forecasted to do up until late last night.

I started having a good feeling about this storm when I went to bed last night. Meterology is a hobby of mine and I know how to read computer models and know my way around most of the arcane terminology that mets like to use such as "bombogenesis" and "20 clicks south of the benchmark", which refers to the point off Nantucket that is most favorable for our biggest snowstorms to develop. Last night, the various models started showing a much more northward track of the storm. This morning, that was confirmed by just about everybody. New England is in for a pretty good snowstorm after all.

This has been a pretty good year for snow already in northern Mass. even though we haven't had a huge snowstorm yet. We have had about a dozen "minor" snow events in the 3-7" inch range that have really piled up the snow around here. Due to the very cold winter, not much of it has melted. I haven't seen my yard since Thanksgiving and the ice dams still aren't melted off my roof, despite the brilliant sunshine and increasing sun angle. It is unusual to have perpetual snow cover like this in spite of the lack of a single large storm (large around here being defined as 12+ inches plus). If this snowstorm pans out as currently forecast, it might be Easter weekend before I see my yard again!

What's for dinner? LOL!

14*F outside, snowing heavily; about 8-10 inches on the ground. Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

Very pretty. I'll enjoy it today, watch the Daytona 500 this afternoon and shovel tomorrow!

65*F inside, thermal underwear and a sweater -- don't want to run up the heating bill, don'tchaknow!

Personally, I'm gonna wait and give it hell tomorrow.

I am going to sit in front of a blazing fire, drink English breakfast tea and eat home-made apple muffins. Tonight I will drink bourbon and watch the snow fall. I will wait until spring to shovel. I don't know why I had to get old to get so smart.
