BTW - Media coverage, which is the name of the game, might be improved by holding rallies on days when the lefties aren't hogging the cameras.

Media coverage is not the be all-and end-all to why we do this, Bob. If it was, we'd be burning effigies of Saddam on street corners in large cities. The folks who go out into the streets to face down the communist-led marches are not looking for face-time on the news; at least not the ones that I know.

They are out on the street to tell the useful idiots who are marching under the ANSWER/WWP/ISO, etc. banners that they are being used to destroy democracy from within the borders of the US.

They are out in the cold waving flags and supporting the young men and women in the US military who are ready to die to stop a madman from killing innocents around the world (through his bankrolling and otherwise supporting terrorist acts).

They are out on the streets in cities across the country today to show the communists that they will never silence the truth about their agenda.

And God Bless each and every one of the hardy souls who put their money where their hearts are, and do the work on the street.

If the media cares to cover us, that's all the better, but it's most certainly not why we do this. Conservative groups are working together. Check out the thread about the College Republicans protesting the French this week for some proof of that. Please try to keep the negativity out of these threads.

I sincerely hope that you include Bob J in your blessing.

Please try to keep the negativity out of these threads.

I only saw an idea, not negativity. We are ALL on the same side here.

I have great respect for all the FReepers who got out in the cold today and braved the smelly gauntlet of nasty lefty fascists. Godpseed to them all.

Employing effective protest strategies, which includes maximizing your media potential, parlays the time, effort and money committed into larger and larger gains and allows the participants to not only walk away with good personal feelings about what they did, but also to believe they were effective in getting their message out to millions of other Americans, and yes, even the troops. For this reason alone, maximizing media potential should be at the top of every FReep list. As you may be aware, The FR Network has worked with the Leadership Institute to develop a seminar on Activism basics. One of the modules is "Earned Media" which instructs neo activists in the art of dealing with the media...everything from how to write a press release to following up to make sure your message gets out. The beta version of this seminar was presented at FR's National Awards Banquet last year and is now being rolled out for chapters to sponsor in their local areas. The Los Angeles chapter will be the first to sponsor this event in April, and the chapter leaders are inviting guests from other conservative groups to take part.

FR networking with other groups is going to be an important factor in "parlaying" our efforts in the future. At CPAC, FRN reps had the opportunity to talk with many other national organizations leaders about this topic, and they were enthusiastic about the concept. I'm hoping that in the near future we may be able to announce just such a national partnership and put together an effort that not only includes the several dozen FReeper chapters and FReepers in general, but tens of thousands of other national organizations chapters and members.

As far as local networking of this sort, many LA Chapter members including myself will be down at Cal State Long Beach next week to take part in that schools College Republicans "support the troops" rally. David Horowitz will be speaking and that combined with quiet on the lefty media front, may bring in some excellent local coverage. I doubt the crowd will be as large as the left was able to pull in this weekend, but many media outlets will be looking to provide coverage for an event that provides interesting juxtaposition.
