It was more like despair for having her family torn apart.

Your heroine tore it apart even more since she's in prison for 10 years and hopefully more

I don't condone what she did,

Of course you don't.... </sarcasm>

but apparently you don't have much problem with what the husband did

He seems like a low life. I wonder what she did that drove him to such behavior. SEE.....GUYS CAN PLAY the poor, poor pitiful me victim game too.

- if you think the only result of adultery is "shame and embarrassment"

Whatever, and by your calculation hubby deserved to die for this. REALITY  is our divorce court are clogged with women initiating divorce. Getting handsome settlements from their ex's. They seem to be able to move on and make a new life for themselves and children with their ex-husband's  money.

You can't change the laws of nature - or nature's God. When a hubby cheats on his wife, or vice versa, something's gonna give (including, in some cases, some people's sanity)- - - that's why God forbade it, so messes like this wouldn't happen. It's sad that on a "conservative" forum we find apologists for adultery, but that shows how liberal our society has become.

Sarcasm aside, looking at her behavior, I wonder what it was like to LIVE with somebody like that, day after day.
