Remember what the President said, "those who know aren't talking".

True....but it is nonetheless excellent strategy, IMHO. In fact, it may be the only and best strategy given what we know about Saddam and his activities to date.

I highly dought this report. The people in charge of this war in Washington don't seem the type to leak this sort of thing. They are way too smart for this, unless it was leaked on purpose.

You also want to put him immediately in a box in Baghdad and TikritGotta find him first....

Rummy said it, not the Prez. But still its a valid point no matter who said it.

"Decapitation." I love the sound of the word...

Why not lob a few missles and let the surrendering process start.

I agree. I think this is a little bit of something to make Saddam have to rethink yet again if he's got his forces in the right places. Keep him guessing.

It's the sort of report that would make sense to Saddam, so that's why it's getting aired. Fact is that an air campaign could start tonight. And with 150,000 military professionals already in the area - they could go at any time. You can bet that there are ops teams assigned to virtually every oil field in the country. Many may already be on-site. Sad Man tried setting up a large surface-to-surface missile battery near Basra which could fire a barrage at our troops and facilities in NW Q-8.
US jets destroyed the entire operation with smart bimbs the day they finished it. Source: Morton Kondracke on Fox News.

In new United States war plans, thousands of helicopter-borne troops and paratroopers would be flown deep into Iraq to seize oilfields, dams and banned weapons,That I can see happening faster than most think. The rest I don't buy.

In new United States war plans, thousands of helicopter-borne troops and paratroopers would be flown deep into Iraq to seize oilfields, dams and banned weapons, and advance as far as Baghdad on day one of fighting, according to Pentagon officials. The story does not agree with the title and I seriously doubt that we have a "NEW" plan.

A real disconnect between the headline and the article.
The game plan is not a mystery. It's sound and minimizes casualties but we aren't going into Bagdad.
Franks will wait for a political solution at a respectable distance from the city.
To: areafiftyone
Sure: The Sydney Morning Herald scooped our war plans from the inside, and no domestic paper had such high sources. Next?
To: Mike Darancette
That's why I said I didn't know if it was credible. It didn't sound right to me. But I think this is owned by the Guardian.
