Dear Shadowhawk Families and Friends;
The Squadron is in the final stages of completing training requirements in the *********** Operation area prior to sailing
overseas. I understand the uncertainty and vagueness of information concerning our deployment is frustrating. This is not
intentional and is related to operational security measures in place to ensure the safety of deployed forces. Operational
Security denies the enemy any "piece of the puzzle". In order not to give away any piece of that puzzle, we must exercise
careful scrutiny of the information being sent off of the ship. Even though the information is being broadcast on CNN, that
does not give military members clearance to confirm it in email.
As official information becomes available for release I will ensure it is forwarded in a timely manner. In addition, the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT has a care line that can be called to hear a recording from the Captain. This recording is
updated when new information is available. The toll free number is ************.
The squadron is doing magnificently, despite working long hours in the tropical heat. I could not ask for a better group of
men and women. Their performance continues to impress the Battle Group Admiral, the Air Wing Commander and me. We
are seeing the dividend from the various shore detachments, days of late night flying and the unfortunately abbreviated
holidays at NAS Whidbey Island. The training and experience gained in those times is now serving us well.
Squadron morale remains high, though I can sense many are anxious to end the training evolution and move on with our
deployment. As I mentioned earlier, I will forward details of our schedule as they become available and releasable. I have
no doubts that the command will continue to excel in the days ahead, whatever may be in store. You all can be proud of
your Shadowhawks accomplishments. Their service to America's purpose and security is as vital as ever.
Sincerely,
CDR Matthew J. Faletti, USN
Commanding Officer
Electronic Attack Squadron ONE FOUR ONE
