Democrats' Effort To Derail Estrada Hits Sour Note With Millions of Hispanic Americans (RUSH)

Democrats' Effort To Derail Estrada Hits Sour Note With Sylvia, Raphael – and Millions of Hispanic Americans Like Them

Folks, we had quite an occurrence on the phone lines Thursday – an outpouring of outrage from Hispanics across America who have had it with the Democratic Party. Their behavior in obstructing the Miguel Estrada nomination – the first Hispanic nominee to the nation's second highest court - is the last straw.

As evidenced by our phone call from Sylvia in Wisconsin, an Hispanic Democrat, the people of this country are seeing what the Democrats are doing, and it's outraging them. It is angering them to no end. I joked early in the program that Univision ought to broadcast this Senate debate so Hispanic America can see what's happening, but they don't need Univision, me or anybody else to tell them about this. It's on display. The Democrats are slitting their own throats, and that's why I say let them continue. It may create an atmosphere that's quite acrimonious for a while, but anything that weakens liberalism is only promoting the health of this country.

This outrage is only going to build and become more intense, the longer this goes, especially if they keep saying things like Miguel Estrada is not a real Hispanic. Sylvia put it perfectly when she said, "We're supposed to be happy with a white black guy, Bill Clinton as the first black president, that's supposed to satisfy us. We're supposed to be happy with white Hispanic people, we're supposed to be happy with white Asian people. But genuine Hispanics and genuine blacks, when they get too close to power, they get shoved away by the Democratic leadership." And she's exactly right. I hope Sylvia calls us back, because I want to make her a subscriber to RUSH 24/7.

Number One Minority, Second-Class Democratic Party Citizens

I got that chance later on with a caller named Raphael in New York City. I awarded him membership to RUSH 24/7, the Limbaugh Letter – and two free gifts from the EIB store. He's a Puerto Rican tired of being taken for granted by Democrats and he's realized that minorities are only worthwhile to liberals if they stay in their place, and that place is not in a position of power. Your place is providing them power. Hispanics are now the number one minority in America. Go out and ask the black people of this country what it's like, if you want to know what's in store for you. You're the number one minority, but you're second-class citizens in the Democratic Party.

Ask yourself a question. Why didn't Bill Clinton ever nominate an Hispanic to any high court? Why didn't he? Take a look at the Bush administration. You have important positions filled by important minorities - Colin Powell, Rod Paige, Condoleezza Rice, Alberto Gonzales, Elaine Chao, and various nominees to the courts, including Miguel Estrada – who, as we laid out in a detailed comparison – has a better resume than both Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer, two Clinton Supreme Court nominations.

We had call after call from people like Sylvia and Raphael and the call screener informed us that we had similar type calls lighting up the board. Take notice, Democrats – because America is taking notice of your behavior.

I heard the call from Sylvia.

I love this Estrada episode because it lays bare Democrat hypocrisy about "diversity".

"Diversity" is all about skin color until the skin color is trumped by the wrong political ideology. Then skin color is meaningless.

Keep those Hispanic nominations coming--throw in some blacks and Asians as well (just keep them conservative)---these fireworks are great to view.

I hope they hang themselves with this! It's especially disgusting that they are using valuable time to filibuster this nomination when there are pressing issues that Congress needs to address. Like more money to first responders.

partisan Nazi's!!

Don't be too confident. Fred Barnes, who's usually pretty astute, says he thinks the RATs will win this one.

The question is - were those calls representative?

Rush gets bazillions of calls, and the call screeners can easily pick and hold, on any given day, any number of callers that support whatever Rush might be on about. I'll bet they had at least a dozen Hispanic "seminar callers".

Not that I necessarily doubt the outrage, but what is everyone hearing from other sources, including any Democratic Hispanic friends and acquaintances? (I assume that any Hispanic members of FR are overwhelmingly supportive of the Estrada nom.)

I think this is just part two of the "Trent" thing. After playing the race card for all it was worth they're over playing thier hand this time.

Hopefully our efforts to keep this issue high-profile will help the Bush '04 election efforts in states like NM, where he barely lost in '00 and in CO, where the recent influx of latinos is/was shifting the political dynamic to the Democrat party.

Keep thinking that.

Better yet, tell everyone you know to keep thinking that.

America needs this insight.

Did I say, keep thinking that?

When you try to compare the 'kind' of people the Libs/Dems are vs. the kind of people most conservatives are, it's like day and night. Most Libs/Dems are (especially now) blinded by hatred of anyone/anything on the right of their beliefs, and they're so full of hate towards Bush they see nothing else.

Look at the hollyweird elitists. Most have been in and out of drug rehab, children out of wedlock, multiple divorces. Now don't get me wrong.....I'm not condeming anyone just because they've had problems in their life....who hasn't? It just seems the ones speaking out the loudest against Bush in HW are the least ones qualifed to pontificate on ANYONE ELSE'S character, life, etc. Also, look at surveys taken of most prisoners. Most of the incarcerated vote Dem or would vote Dem. It goes on and on....but you get the drift. As I've said before, if the majority of the US military personnel support and respect Bush, that ALONE is good enough for me, cause there ARE no finer people (character, honor, etc.) than our military.

no he didn't - on Brit Hume tonight he said that the reason the Republicans are more than content to let this drag on night after night is that they can afford to because the underlying issue of fairness is a winner for them and the more opportunities the Republicans have for Orrin Hatch to stand up there and rip apart the stupid DemoncRATs for their overtly obstructionist tactics against this first hispanic nominee for the US Court of Appeals in the District of Columbia, and then to have the Dems come back with stupid stuff that is then easily and repeatedly rebutted, it's like the DemoncRATs brought a knife to a gun fight and Orrin just stands up there with six-shooters shooting all the libs truly racist (anti-Republican Hispanic) arguments down.

Lay off Trent -- he didn't resign his Senate seat.
