When I am out in the ocean at night with my Brothers I feel like I'm 19.
Hours later, at home, I feel like I'm 99. lol

Soldiers of Company A, 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, along with soldiers of Company A, 307th Engineers, attached to the 82nd Airborne Division, from Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan, begin climbing towards their first objective carrying 180 pounds of explosives, during a combat patrol in the mountains of Adi Ghar, Afghanistan. Their mission, called Operation Mongoose was to search various caves throughout the mountain ranges of Adi Ghar for suspected Taliban and weapons caches and destroy them, preventing the re-emergence of terrorist activities in the area. This has got to be a high-sress job! And they're smiling! Their enthusiasm makes me so proud of them.

Cool pics, tom! I especially like the aerial photo of Security Council Coalition ships. (From left to right) Her Majesty's Australian Ship HMAS Darwin (F 04), the U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60), the U.S. Navy spruance class destroyer USS Fletcher (DD 992), Her Majesty's Australian Ship HMAS Anzac (F 150), and the British Royal Navy ship HMS Cardiff (D 108).

radu has a cat named Cotton Mather (I think I have that right.) You're quite right, Kathy. It's actually a family name. Cotton Mather is an ancestor on my father's side of the family. Lucky me, huh? LOL!

It's a shame the news media doesn't say much about what our troops are dealing with in Afghanistan. We get a blurb here and there. Fortunately, there's FR and a lot of info to keep everyone up-to-date. Thanx for posting this.
I especially liked:
Coalition aircraft dropped precision-guided munitions on targets and then strafed the area. There were no U.S. casualties.
GOOOOOOOOODY!!

Well I'll be! I had no idea Sean Astin had served as a civilian aide to the secretary of the Army since 1995.
It sounds like his Mom, Patty, did a fine job raising him!
