Letters to our "Allies?"

From my friend in FL (ex lt. bird) He is really po'd..

February 10, 2003

Mr. Jean-David Levitte French Embassy 4101 Resevoir Road, NW Washington, DC 20007

Dear Mr. Ambassador,

I am sending this letter to add my voice to the growing chorus of voices protesting France’s selfish, ego-centric stand on the upcoming war with Iraq.

I am old enough to know that if it were not for the USA, I would be writing this letter to you in German because that is the language all citizens of France (German Province) would be speaking if not for US. You would not be worried about American words and idioms invading your cherished Gallic language because it would be German not French that would be affected.

You may hold your prodigious Gallic noses up in the air at we unsophisticated Americans, but it is we who held up your boorish French asses in two World Wars. You can’t possibly still be angry that we figured out a way of digging a trench through Panama that your best engineers gave up on, can you?

I am joining each and every protest against French products and am encouraging every one I know to join with me in the protest. Products included are French wine, champagne, fashions, automobiles, etc.

I am totally against empire building. But, when we defeat Sadaam’s Iraq, I and many millions of other Americans will be writing their Senators and Congressmen encouraging them to establish a regime that is unfriendly to the economic interests of France. We understand that your anti-US stand is based solely on selfish economic interests. With Sadaam out you won’t be able to circumvent UN resolutions and make illegal profits.

I, for one, have not forgotten that French plantations were off limits to US military forces during the Vietnam War and that we had to pay your government/citizens for every damn rubber tree that we damaged while fighting the enemy that defeated you at Diem Bien Phu. I also remember that most of the dollars left behind in Vietnam after the war were converted into gold through France. How much did your country profit from those transactions? By the way, we are still waiting for you to pay off your War debts. With interest it must be more than the whole value of France - Perfume, fashions, wine and mushrooms combined.

Had the Eiffel Tower crumbled to the ground instead of our Twin Towers, I, like most Americans , would have mourned your loss. We would have pledged our allegiance to France and their cause and would not have wavered in our steadfast pledge to avenge your loss. Your country, however, can only be counted on to wave a white flag (Vichy France) when confronted with any adversary.

After Pearl Harbor and after September 11th you and the rest of the world saw a ”Sleeping Giant Awaken” (Credit to Admiral Yamamoto). We will not be deterred by France or any other countries that are content to sit on the sidelines and to be irrelevant. Unlike you, we dream of a better future we do not bemoan a meaningless past.

The “Sleeping Giant” I refer to is not our US military might it is the economic voting right of 250+ million Americans. Those votes, by your choice, will not be for French products.

Sincerely,

Most excellent bump.

Thanks for the excellent sentiments with which I concur totally.

Also, what about removing troops from Germany, removing the U.S. from NATO and the U.N., the U.N from the U.S., the troops from South Korea, the Philipines, the U.S. from Puerto Rico (and Vieques).

And by the way, I demand a tax cut to defund those Axis of Weasels.
