The Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel, located in Kfar Shmaryahu, is going on a special shortened schedule, starting on February 23. 300 of the school’s students are expected to leave Israel before the anticipated war in Iraq.
300 of the school’s 525 students have announced they plan to leave, and a special learning schedule for the Israeli students has been established. Many of the Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel teachers with foreign citizenship are also expected to leave.
School superintendent Robert Sills notified the parents of the students in writing that because of the security situation, the school administration expects many of the students to leave in the coming weeks. A special program of online studies for various subjects has been prepared.
For students remaining in Israel, the school will operate on a shortened schedule, and will attempt to hire Israeli teachers to replace the absent foreigners. The school plans to return to its normal schedule on March 23. All vacations from this date until the end of the school year will be canceled, and the school year will be extended to make up the lost lessons.
