I saw a report in one news source today that Germany had agreed to furnish the AWACS crew to Turkey (independently of NATO, of course).
This is great news. It's a rather ridiculous stance of Germany to be opposing it as a NATO action while providing the requested men and equipment in a low-profile manner, but the actions are more important than the words.

Germany is a loud opposition, but a silent contributor to the actions (e.g. my examples of Germans help in Germany, Afghanistan, Israel, Somalia etc). They have no other choice, and the question was never if we should help Turkey, but WHEN!

It's a rather ridiculous stance of Germany to be opposing it as a NATO action while providing the requested men and equipment in a low-profile manner Part of the French and German motivation is a compulsion to run around screaming "I am relevant!" (rather like a certain XPOTUS we all know and loathe).
(The other parts are their oil contracts and the realization that they are gonna be soooo busted when the occupation forces give Saddam's WMD programs a real inspection.
