Bias in Cartoons for Children
Nick Network
Posted on 02/10/2003 12:42:16 PM PST by Conservababe
My three year old grandson is ill and spending the day with me. Usually, he plays his games on computer or watches his favorite movies. But today he is lethargic and wanted to watch cartoons. His parents allow him to watch Nick so I turned it on.
During the program that airs between 1:30 and 2:00 CST (I have no idea the name) a character dressed in a suit said "I am rich. I am important. I am a Republican".
I had no idea that the liberal writers and producers spread their overt bias to even cartoons at the pre-school level. I have heard subtle propaganda concerning the environment and diversity within the cartoons. But, I have never seen and heard such an outright display of the contempt liberals have for Republicans.
I am angry.

As you SHOULD be.
If you can't bring your children to the Indoctrination Centers...we will bring the Indoctrination Centers to YOU

Nickelodean is notoriously liberal. They've done several specials aimed at children that are nothing more than bias liberal crap. (Excuse my french!).

Welcome to the world of children's tv. It is not healthy for living things.

In which case, you talk to the child and say, "Hopefully, someday you will also be a rich, important Republican. It is a lot better and less demeaning than being a snivelling, sleazy Democrat."

What on earth is wrong with being rich, important and Republican? Seems like a worthy enough goal to me.

Why then are most rich people in this country in fact, Democrats?

Parents should always carefully monitor EVERYTHING their child sees on television. You can no longer assume that kid appropriate content will be on children's channels. Everything is suspect, these days. Our culture is really debased, and the media only wants to generate mind-numb consumers!

I laugh when people don't think the Hollyweirdo have an agenda for your child.
Do people really think these wackos would pass up a chance at indoctrination if they had it?
These people squeal with delight at the fact that they have the attantion of children longer than their own parents do.
Throw out your television, especially if you have kids.

Never, ever trust today's culture to inform your child I don't, I can assure you. Both my three year and four year old grand children know who is our President. The four year old says "President Boooosh". LOL And they both know the flag and can recite the Pledge of Allegiance". They also know they are little Republicans. I taught them.
But, I was absolutely floored to see and hear a cartoon character mocking Republicans.

Per the schedule, you were watching "Steven Spielberg Presents Tiny Toons Adventures." I think that says it all. LOL!!

I think that is poor advice.
Watching trash with your children only says "well, since mommy and daddy are watching it, it must be OK".

Why then are most rich people in this country in fact, Democrats? I just said it was a worthy goal!
That said, I am not sure I am buying your premise. Define "rich" and define "most" and "people".... The visible entertainers may be predominantly liberal, but I am not sure the less visible "rich" are really mostly liberal.

"Childrens' TV" is a real cultural minefield, and has been for many years, now. Anybody else, here, remember this guy (and his carefully selected buddies)?
To: Huck
What is wrong with the rest of these folk?

One day, years ago, I was channel-surfing and happened to pause long enough on a superhero-type cartoon in which a female superhero was giving a male superhero a medal or something, to which the male superhero responds: "For me, a mere male?".
