What they were saying was that the original tax rate in 1913 was 1% to 6% depending on the various income brackets and that the rates increased over time to where they are now based on political pressures.

Look at the current federal budget. Project the cost of fighting terrorism. We're going to pay for it one way or the other. Some people don't mind it if they pay their taxes on consumer goods rather than on a 1040. It's all the same to me. If I'm forced to buy a junker instead of a new car to save on taxes I'm supposed to feel good about it. Like I said, we're going to pay one way or another.

With the remarks that you each are making, the both of you should change your screen names.

One of the major problems with the current system is the power and intrusiveness of the federal government to examine every detail of your life. What you earn and where you earn is nobody's business but yours. As long as we're subject to an income tax, we are subject to the proctologists at the IRS. An income tax is a slave tax. With this proposal, freedom calls and it's time to say enough is ENOUGH.
