It gets even better. The State Dept. says that if someone renounces their citizenship, it's irrevocable--except for facing criminal charges & financial obligations. The only way O'Keefe is going to come back to the US is in handcuffs. But I vote for letting him stew in a holding cell in Rome. How about you?

O' Keefe is not the only one who (allegedly) burned his US passport. So did the other Ken (Nichols) whose mother flew over to bail him out. Her picture is in post #40.

Perhaps we could accommondate these stalwart idealists by allowing them to be human shields in a nice comfy four star hotel...perhaps in Ft. Lauderdale during spring break.

They think they are in danger BEFORE the bombs start falling, wait until AFTER.

Yeah, remember what happened to the foreigners the Taliban brought in to help enforce their rule? And those guys weren't heavily televised. Everybody is going to recognize these folks.

Organisers told the human shields they must each stump up $1,000 before they could enter Iraq. In addition, they would have to leave their mobile phones at the border, cutting off all communication with home, and be subjected to tests for HIV.

It appears that their Uncle Soddomite doesn't want these beggars or HIV vectors in his country begging, $crewing and donating HIV to the Iraqi population.

Somebody needs to forward this to Rush Limbaugh. It's too funny to keep to ourselves.

Lol, this is too funny!

"While at Cambridge in 1956, I went off to aid the Hungarian Rebellion in a van packed with corned beef. Unfortunately the border was closed when we got there."

I'm dying to know what happened to the van load of corned beef. Sold on the black market?

..the vehicle was too tall for the Alpine tunnels and scraped its roof.

It's a wonder they let the idiots proceed. Most tunnels here in the US have signs posting the maximum allowable height.

This is one of the funniest things I have ever read.

Human debris such as this make the perfect human shields for Saddam. There is no earthly loss to mankind if they are all blown to bits.

Our gain by being rid of these folks is Saddam's loss--given how good they are at screwing things up, he must be worried about letting them into the country.

That's good! National Lampoon's Baghdad Vacation. I'd pay money to see that.

This is wonderful and oh so funny --- a real whirled peas story for liberals. Thank you.

No, no, those aren't whirled peas, they are lentils...!!..:-)

"plans to travel through the Balkans were aborted as “too dangerous"

Ummmm, maybe it is just me, but I would think that being a human shield would trump any danger of traveling through the Balkans.

"“We are buying our own hypodermic syringes”, said Williams. “They could just as easily give you HIV with the needles in Iraq.”

Do these morons have any clue what being a human shield means? Just seems a little odd to me that they would be so health conscious.

"National Lampoon's Middle Eastern Vacation"- starring the folks from DU"

Another good idea. Times like this makes you wish that conservatives were in charge in Hollywood. Entertainment would be great again.

"I'd love to see someone with talent make a short story or play based on their misadventures."

Actually, what this puts me in mind of is a "Baghdad or Bust" version of Ken Kesey's "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test."

"good satire is hard to come by."

And some of the very best is that which was never intended as satire.
