Just an interesting figure. Has anyone a recent poll of the US?

this illustrates the justification for a representative rather than a direct democracy. government by public opinion poll would collapse the first week

If I remember correctly, France has 5 million Muslims ... I wonder what percentage of the French population that makes.

70% now back the war according to the liberal Newsweek poll. 64% want to give the inspectors several months or less...53% one month or less. We Americans are onboard.

Second, it takes a leader to bring his people onboard to do what is right. We have a leader, France doesn't.

You hear that, Saddam? Fire away at France, 77% of the population won't support a war even if the Republican Guard is marching down the Champs d'Elysses, through a cloud of VX, with full chemical suits on!

Memo to the French: Get out of our way.

Little weanies - in every respect. When meeting one from Europe one need only ask: Are you from the part of Europe whose arse we saved or whose arse we kicked? Seems France has forgotten who saved them - or perhaps they'd prefer to be speaking German all these years.

The latest Newsweek poll shows 85% of Americans would support war in Iraq if the UN agrees. It's at about 50% if we get no support.

What that means is that 35% of Americans think that France should dictate US foreign policy.

We have no shortage of dumb Americans.

From their point of view? The UN exists for a reason or it doesn't. Period.

switzerland isn't a direct democracy; it is run by the swiss federal parliament, which since 1959 has produced a "grand coalition" government. nice try, though.

Does that accurately reflect Jerry Lewis's position on this issue?

Well ... that nice! How about when the terrorists start blowing up their city, we don't bother to help them.

I know a lot of people feel that way.

Doing a little reserach...
France has a population of 60 million. So, 5 million Muslims, 1/15 of the population.

As for 70% of France not supporting war...not like France would be a good ally in war (probably pre-emptively surrender to one up Saddam).
