This is just so wrong. The DEA is truely a Dumb Evil Agency and the WOD just doesn't work. Even more amazing that they would get such long prison terms.

Thanks for posting it on that thread. I thought it deserved a thread of it's own.

Incredible...............

"The DEA is truely a Dumb Evil Agency..."

When it comes to methods and means they are typical of all the federal police. Ask the Weaver family or the Branch Davidians!

The correct action is to post the names and faces of the DEA agents and prosecutors involved in this case.

Why do news storys always let off the government thugs so easy? Oh yeah, because the lamestream press feeds at the government teat.

I'll see if I can find the Reason article about the plastics products/injection molding factory owner that the fedthugs sent to jail for making little bottles that were designed to hold perfume samples. The charge was conspiracy to distribute because some dopers used some of the bottles to package coke.

Good article... I remember this case. It's a perfect example of how we live in a country not under the uniform rules of constitutional law, but under the whims of hordes of bureaucrats. Horror stories relating to the WOsD are more prevalent, but the same thing happens to the 'peasants' who stand up to those little dictators on property-rights issues, educational issues, etc.

It still amazes me how brilliant the Founding Fathers of the old, dead Republic were. They saw this kind of thing coming, structured government to limit it, and warned us to prevent it, by force of arms if necessary. We've all dropped the ball and this kind of stuff will increase in the future until the point that everybody will be affected by gov't crimes like this, and there will be nothing you can do about it.

Just think about what the above story tells us about the gov't we live under. A real criminal could rape your wife or child, steal everything you own or assault you to near death (or maybe even kill you), and that criminal will be punished much less than these people whose only 'crime' was to try to make an honest living in a field the gov't doesn't approve of.

"In the spring of 1994, the Tucker family received lengthy prison sentences -- "

On Easter Sunday morning of that same year, a very good friend of mine's wife was broadsided and killed by a Mexican illegal dui who had run a red light at the end of an interstate exit ramp, not far from where this guy's store was on Buford Hwy.

The illegal received a 4 year sentence, but was released to an official from the Mexican consular after doing a year, supposedly to do his remaining time in Mexico.

Steve here gets 10 years because some of his customers perform an illegal act with the product they bought from him.

I was one of his customers and I got looked at myself.(I'm clean except for speeding tickets).Steve's store was the only place I could get bat guano without ordering it through the mail, and bat guano worked great on my orchids and azaleas, much better than rabbit or chicken manure.

This was obviously a witch hunt with an overly strict sentence given out of anger and frustration of the Feds not being able to force Steve to talk.

And is the major reason I'm anti WOD.

To be fair, there was a pretty big stink raised in the local media when this all happened, but it died down pretty quickly.

This is so stupid.

If these people are so innocent, how did the jury convict them so easily?

"Even after the jury had returned guilty verdicts against all three Tuckers"...So, it was a setup with the jurors, too?

Druggie losers.

Yeah, juries are always right. Just ask O.J.

This is the same moronic reasoning behind folks like Dick Daley trying to sue gun manufacturers for the illegal purposes to which people put a legal product.
