I have great respect for the POTUS and his wartime leadership and I believe he has one central component that most others in that office never had and that is HONOR.

However, I don't neccessarily think that because Gere praises GW for aids research and Dennis Miller likes his school voucher program, or even that Hitchens DISDAIN of the Clintons means we are winning new conservatives to our side. What it means is that GW is moving LEFT.

Yea but Bush always claimed to be a compassionate conservative. He is showing that he is not a lier by hitting these issues! No matter how much we hate these issues - they won't go away and Bush knows that. He is trumping Clinton BIG TIME!

What it means is that GW is moving LEFT.

...or maybe that the left is being fractured by the truth. Which to my knowledge is why FR is in existence.

Think about it for a minute.........the normal response from them would be to call his initiatives 'smokescreens', 'diversions', you get the idea.

Although there are some using this language, look at Gere and others. They are taking the President at his word, that much is obvious. Why?

Because no matter how they might feel about some of his other policies, they know he is a man of conviction, somebody who means what he says.

Your first paragraph answers your second. It's not that Gere or Hitchens or even Miller are going conservative; but it's not that GW is moving left either. It's that Bush is a man of honor. And those, who are also people of honor, even if with other political views, are responding to that with respect and thoughtfulness.
