A group of South Bay residents who oppose war with Iraq is hopeful that the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors will pass a resolution today declaring its opposition to a unilateral or first strike war.

In recent weeks, a group called Cities For Peace has urged local municipalities to pass anti-war resolutions. Nearly 60 cities, from Santa Cruz to Chicago to Baltimore, have done so, and campaigns in other cities are under way.

I wish Kalifornia would just go ahead and leave the union. That way, they'll have no influence on US politics and the taxpayers from the remaining states won't have to bail them out of their fiscal crisis. Maybe Mexico will take them....

How many troops has the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors sent to the Gulf region? Oh, none? Then who cares what they think?

Speaking as one who is caught behind enemy lines here in Cali, I'd prefer rescue to abandonment.

I suggest the Bush administration terminate all defense-related contracts in areas that vote against war. If they're against war, then they should have no problem with not having DoD funds coming in.

I hear what you are saying, but.. it ain;t's gonna happen.

There goes our nation's military if that were done. California has multiple key defense contractors in this state.

The people in the State of California that have a backbone and will to rise above tyranny in its own gov't must determine their own destiny.

Let's hope the Republicans hold strong, it is our only real hope to begin to break the hold of the demRats and socialists on this state and thus, improve this nation's chances for long-term survival.

California needs to lead the nation and throw the bums in Sacramento and on the courts out of office and elect responsible leadership and officials

All these cities and their anti-war sentiments and votes of "conscience" are being done by folks with their heads in the sand. It is time to plant the rest of their carcasses there as well..

Nothing short of that will save us.
