In Texas, the rule is "If you do the crime, you do the time". This bad boy's time has come...

Us Texans are a forgiving lot...but murderers won't be breathing when the forgiveness is given.

If he is a US citizen, why does Texas have to recognize the jurisdiction of any foreign government at all?

an era when Texas prisons were overcrowded because of a space shortage

This deserved pointing out.

They weren't overcrowded. They just didn't meet the standards for a five star hotel that a Democrat appointee federal judge required.

I meant the "overcrowded because of a space shortage." I wonder what other reason for overcrowding occurred to the writer, that made him realize the need to be specific. Overcrowding due to too many people?

From the form you posted:

Name: John William Elliot
Race: Hispanic

Is that a common Hispanic name in Texas?

They don't. The US will consider him as only a US citizen, while the UK will consider him a British citizen. Too bad for him that he murdered a woman in the US. He could have got off much more lightly had he done so overseas. In Texas, you do the crime, you pay.

Different, huh? A bit unusual. Another murderer that Texas will send up for judgment...

"As I say, fry him."

You have to have a good sense of humor if you commit a capital crime in Texas. Because you are going to get needled if you get caught.

Or as the Alabama song's lyrics puts it:

"If you're gonna kill in Texas
You're gonna find a needle in your hand. . ."

British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw asked Gov. Rick Perry on behalf of Elliott and 134 ministers of Parliament signed a House of Commons motion demanding clemency for Elliott, 42.

You'll be gratified to know the Gov doesn't have the power to grant clemency - only one 30 day stay.

This predator will not kill again.
