Like armies in darkness, two rival fraternities gathered on opposite sides of a San Jose neighborhood park to await the midnight hour.

On one side stood the brothers of Lambda Phi Epsilon, who fancied themselves the ``Death Rho Lambdas'' and whose Web site featured an electric chair and the slogan ``buckle up and enjoy the ride.''

If our socialist federally-funded higher education system wasn't filling colleges with kids who have no business being there (on our dime!), there wouldn't be these large pools of mindless "students" with too much time and energy on their hands. Nobody who is concerning themselves with attending rumbles between rival gangs (which is clearly what these "fraternities" really are) is remotely serious about college level academics, so why the heck are we paying for them to pretend to be students?

Nothing between the frats, both held in high regard for their charitable work, foreshadowed the bloodshed of that early morning gang-style brawl on Jan. 22.

This is probably the most outrageous statement in the piece... nothing .. foreshadowed. An Asian gang fight in the heart of California's strongest Asian gang territory and nothing ... foreshadowed my arse.

Figuring out precisely what happened that night, say investigators, has been complicated by a stubborn shroud of silence and lies.

For those of you familiar with Asian gang activity does this have a familiar ring?
