The attack on the Liberty has never been fully explained. Official reports by both the Israelis and the U.S. Navy declared it accidental: "a case of mistaken identity" during the Six-Day War. Israel had to want to kill Americans, they were in a killing frenzy, and they needed blood for holiday food, right???

There are a group of cranks on FR who never tire of posting about the attack on USS Liberty. We all know what happened during the Six Day War.
Does that mean we shouldn't mourn Col. Ramon because his government made a mistake in 1967?

Leave it up to the Washington comPost to bring up an event just short of 40 years old in their effort to drum up anti-Israeli/pro Arab support in their continuing effort to appease those who destroy us and our way of life.

RCW is back with the Liberty, 1967, again.
RCW, is it boredom that causes you to periodically post the same old Liberty threads? Trolling for anti-Israelis? Remember to alternate next week and bring up one of your favorite Jonathan Pollard threads. That always gets the juices flowing every time you post it.

Why the devil did the Washington Post's editors assign and run this piece today?
There was no news peg I could find.

This is an irrelavant story. Much has changed in the past 37 years. This seems to be a transparent attempt to raise doubts about the American commitment to Israel on the eve of a U.S driven war against one of Israel's arch enemies
Get a life.

I think it is high time for an investigation of the Washington Post and it's ties to terrorist organizations.

I thought we were supposed to learn from the passed NOT LIVE IN IT
Am i supposed to hate israel for something that happened when i was 7 years old ? are my children supposed to because it was done before they were born ?
Im here now and so are my children tehy are seeing who the enemy is for themselves enemys wear many faces they disappear and reappear as quickly as the tide changes
I will keep an eye on my enemys as my children will and their children after them and i pray they learn from the past but i will do the best i can to teach them to live in the now.
Theres lots to learn about lots of different people places and things some good some bad its up to every parent to teach their children what can be their enemy or freind as it stands now israel is americas freind WHY DREDGE UP AN UGLY PAST at a time when enemys are surrounding and encamping about us?
End of rant

We all know about the Liberty and I think everyone has heard the former crew members speak about it.
I can understand a huge mistake in the fog of war, what I have a bigger problem with is pulling back allied support for the crippled vessel when those in charge knew, beyond a doubt that it was under attack.
That's what's unforgivable about the Liberty incident, imho.
Not the mistake, it's our response to the mistake.
Heads should have rolled for that.

Figured we'd be seeing yet another rehash of this issue about now. It's obviously paramount in some circles, since we've heard statements in the last couple of days about how close Israel and the USA are, to bring up things like this so that the easily-led astray and latent anti-semitics can start ranting about Jews taking over the world, etc.
What's your next post? Excerpts from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion?
If the Liberty incident is cause to hang the folks in Tel Aviv out to dry, then by the same logic, what about the Iraqi exocet missile attack against a USN ship several years ago?
Recommend you start sending your stuff to the Arab News (arabnews.com). You'll be better received.
