they could easily check the leftover water in the outboard to see if its salt or not....Most likely he killed her in the home so it's the forensic evidence that's gonna do him in and they really don't need the body. I think it would be pretty simple to take the bloodhound to the truck to see if she was in there after the driveway, and I am sure they already did this so I guess we are in a hold pattern until they have a winnable case.

or MPD decides to release any evidence that won't warm the case. I hear they are being tight lipped on this for now.

Thanks, I thought it had something to do with whether the case was pending or active.

I knew you were quoting from printed text, not doubting you. It's just you read so many conflicting things, it's hard to know what to believe.

I understood your post and didn't take any negative meaning from it. I just wanted to make sure I had read the article right. : )

And since I went and found it, thought I might as well post it.

Thank you so much for the pings. Much appreciated.

Maybe Scott did just what he said he did. He's a cad and a jerk for two-timing his wife but that doesn't make him a murderer. It would have to be something so drastic to create that kind of situation. He appears to have been a decent guy during his lifetime. He could certainly survive a divorce. I saw his financial advisor on tv and he totally discounted Scott and Laci were in financial trouble. What could possibly cause a man to kill his wife and baby?

Forensic evidence may point to him and I'm totally wrong but I'm not willing to jump to "he's quilty" without more evidence.

In my state, the lawyer CAN'T withdraw once the case has been set for trial.

Regardless of what California's rules are, I feel confident that at this stage, McAllister could withdraw from representing Scott w/o permission from a judge.

Unless someone who knows all the pertinent CA rules about this says differently, I think we can go on the supposition that in this case, at this stage, McAllister didn't need permission from a judge to drop Scott.

Depends on the state. Speaking of the states I know, a court-appointed lawyer can withdraw, same as a privately hired lawyer--unless the case has been already set for trial, in which case neither appointed nor private can withdraw.

The appointed lawyer would tell the judge what he was doing, though, if he ever wanted to be given an appointment by that judge again! Then the judge would just appoint someone else.

Some places have a public defender's office. For those which don't, private lawyers simply put their names on a list for each judge from whom they would accept appointed cases. IOW, the lawyer who is appointed for an indigent defendant is a "private" lawyer for his paying clients, and a "court-appointed" lawyer for his indigent clients. Most people on those lists handle some paid, some appointed cases. The defendant who is appointed a lawyer gets the one whose name is next on the list. This could be someone with lots of experience, or someone who is new. If the defendant doesn't like the lawyer who is appointed, he can fire him, same as with a private lawyer--unless the case has reached the stage where taking the lawyer off it would be detrimental to the defendant's interests.

Many years lurker,1st post....My first impression when Laci dissappeared was that hubby Scott did it and she willinging got in car (reason dogs lose her scent in driveway) because sweet hubby was gonna take her togive her her Christmas present .... maybe a boat????? If I were as dumb as he is the smartest way to dispose of her would be the manure pits...can't dredge them

Thanks, lots of good info in your post. In my post, I meant Scott has not been charged with anything so a lawyer could accept, reject or withdraw representing Scott. If he is charged and an attorney appointed (or hired), then your info would come into play.

I don't think "we" know for sure if his attorney as quit or not, just rumors that he did.

Not that I believe in them, but just wondering where all the psychics are. After all it's a big media story and when Chandra Levy disappeared they all had their "visions" of where she was.

Thanks! I am sure that money is an integral part of Scott's current relationship, or non-relationship, with this attorney. The bit about how Scott went on national TV and talked everyone's ear off, which we can be SURE was contrary to the attorney's advice, would also be a key issue.

It's hard to understand people who pay a lawyer the type of money this McAllister would ask, then don't follow the advice they paid good money for!

But then, there are a lot of things about Scott which are hard to understand.

**The robbery at the neighbors' house was supposedly on the day after Christmas, so Laci had been missing for at least 2 days at that point. **

The robbery at the neighbor's home was actually on the 24th...same day Laci went missing. Not 2 days *after* Christmas.

One picture doesn't mean anything, really, because we don't know the circumstances (was there something on the floor between them, whatever?). However, looking at ALL the photos of the two of them, there is always something weird about Scott. He is always looking like his focus is on himself and never Laci, whereas most of the photos show her acting close to him.

TY for the welcome maggie......I usually at least take a browse at most things.....Definately posts about how we are slowly losing a lot of freedoms Laci Peterson I can't not get her and her baby off my mind..Maybe he's innocent but don't think so Laci's Scott and his smirks and smiles, roving eyes just really gets to me. Hope it won't be long before he is behind bars but he's the kind that get away with it. OJ If by some miracle Laci and Conner are still alive I hope Laci has access to a TV so she can see what a real jerk her hubby is. Prayers are for her to return home to family excluding Scott

Don't think so, at least according to what has been reported. Unless something has changed since this report, which I haven't heard about.

from the Modesto Bee:

"Based on interviews with the suspects, police said the burglary on Covena Avenue in the La Loma neighborhood took place between 4 and 7 a.m. Dec. 26. Scott Peterson reported his pregnant wife missing about 6 p.m. Dec. 24."
