And given the temps, there isn't going to be much left to piece together to determine the cause. This will take a very long time....we may never fully know.

There's already speculation as to the cause (damage to the wing during launch).
This would have made a really stupid terrorist attack. Sure, it gets international coverage, but it's seven lives and one shuttle. That's a far cry from the billions of dollars of damage done to a metropolitian city and the thousands killed in the WTC disaster followed by the massive impact in the national economy. A far more psychologically devastating attack could have been managed with significantly less expense.
Heck, making the shuttle explode on the launch pad would have been easier, and it would have done more damage. This is a tragic accident, not an act of malice.
