I did visit DU and there was a thread directing readers to a FR thread. It was real-time reporting as FReepers along the flight path were going outside to watch the shuttle fly above, initially unaware of the unfolding tragedy. Almost all of the responses to that thread were gracious; they thought it was pretty amazing to read.

Where is that thread? (The FR one.)

Should probably be viewed and bookmarked. And one of the many things that makes Free Republic so cool. Like having someone witnessing and posting about Kennedy's assination, or something.
