That is absolute BS. The cockpit was in pieces from 51-L. There was no way a "switch" could have been thrown in the context of the Challenger recovery program and to allege that impropriety exists in the manner of the recovery is outrageous.I will make this clear...
I am going by memory. Back from a time that I didn't even watch the news. But what I have reported here is true.
That being said...I have no earthly idea if what I have reported is factual.
But I THINK I have seen other reports about "Switches being thrown".
And just so you know...I am about as big of an anti-conspiracy nut as you'll find.

And as for my memory of what I read in a newspaper. I read it in the Indianapolis Star. I have no reason to believe that it was anything other than true.
Of course as I type this, I have no proof. It's just something I remember because I always thought it was interesting.

I recall some of the oxygen backpacks had been MANUALLY activated. Also, no public playing of the cockpit voice recorder.
