On Australia Day some local FA-18s did a fly by (on their way down to Sydney 100miles to the south) and they came back very low later and buzzed the beach line, like a shark patrol Cessna on elephant juice. I was watching the single file formation when the lead jet flicked some magic switch and bolted off at warp speed -- G forces or what? Unbelievable for someone like me who hasn't been around jets much.
And some Hercs are going too. Hmmm. What for? Flood relief work... dropping hay bales to stranded camels on the Tigris river flats or something?
