Maybe. More likely he was merely hoping for a way to keep his a$$ out of prison when the indictments start flying over all the corruption he presided over (and wallowed in) as governor of Illinois.

Won't matter though - when that time comes, all the media will remember is that he is a Republican, and therefore he will have the book thrown at him.

Not that I'm going to be sorry to see that happen, of course.

Since his impending nomination was announced while he was still in office, does it seem likely that his desire to win the prize influenced his death-penalty clemency decision?
