YTN-TV, one of the major South Korean TV networks (and all South Korean TV stations tonight, along with South Korean daily press on the web) have done urgent, top stories on the The New York Times report today that indicate United States intelligence espionage satellites have picked up the movement of many North Korean trucks at Yongbyon, North Korea (nuclear processing facility) pointing to the removal and transfer (to where? for what purpose?) of nearly 8,000 nuclear fuel rods for possible plutonium reprocessing in an effort to produce up to nearly SIX nuclear weapons. The other intent discussed is an attempt by North Korea to hide these materials. It is said this activity has suddenly escalated in the month of January.
This dangerous situation can be viewed, in the Korean language (but Freepers/Lurkers, you don't need Korean language 'hangul' fonts installed to easily find the streaming video links), at the following page here!
Further, in addition to finding the video stream links there, here is the video link if you would like, or otherwise go to the report and hit your desired stream, be it 56K or 200K (we used Windows Media format).

200K:
Caveat: These 2 links may or may not work, in which case, just go to the "here!" above and try to link from there. Good luck.

You will see the Korean anchorwoman tonight on YTN-TV discuss the heightened tension today w/ North Korea, satellite photos of Yongbyon facilities, detailed internal file footage of the nuclear fuel rods and NKor technicans at work several years ago, fighter aircraft taking off from the USS Kitty Hawk which has been positioned near the Korean peninsula for possible attack, and President Bush in a cabinet meeting. All of the S. Korean press I have seen tonight in the Korean language has been with a tone of concern and urgency over the (likely) removal of the rods, with a view by Kim Jong il of adding to his nuclear arsenal effectively from March. Most of them made a reference that President Bush is considering military action if the actions continue and can be verified as a threat to increase nuclear weapon production.

Latest anti-USA poster just printed this month in Pyongyang, N. Korea (and they also think
this way about the now-dead "Nuclear Proliferation Treaty (NPT)" [which they abrogated by the way........]

China should deal with this. China is sooooo lame.

Interesting: Absolutely NOTHING about this on CNN, Fox, or any other major news site. Something must be up if this is true and our media are completely ignoring it...

Here's an interesting Article:
JAPAN 'LOSES' 206KG OF PLUTONIUM
January 30, 2003 The Financial Times reports: "Japan on Tuesday admitted that 206kg of its plutonium - enough to make about 25 nuclear bombs - is unaccounted for.
Government scientists said that 6,890kg of plutonium had been extracted since 1977 from spent nuclear fuel at a processing plant about 120km north east of Tokyo. But that is 3 per cent short of the amount the plant was estimated to have produced.
About 5kg to 8kg of plutonium are needed to make a 20-kiloton atomic bomb similar to the one that destroyed Nagasaki in 1945. Experts said the missing amount was surprisingly large.
There is normally a margin of error of 1 per cent or less when measuring liquid plutonium, which can dissolve into other elements.
Japan's admission comes at a time of acute sensitivity because of the threat of nuclear proliferation in north-east Asia following North Korea's revival of its mothballed nuclear program.
However, there is no evidence that North Korea was linked to the missing plutonium even though it is known to smuggle goods in and out of Japan.
'This is an unusually large amount of plutonium to be unaccounted for, which makes me uncomfortable, although I think it's highly unlikely that it was stolen,' said Tatsujiro Suzuki, senior research scientist at the Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry.
The science ministry, which reported the discrepancy to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), dismissed the idea that the plutonium had been stolen..."
So where is it?

It is a story in New York Times today, and is all over the Japanese press too, and furthermore if you do a Google search under the News page for "Korea" you will see it. I think it is being covered in many quarters, but as you mention, not particularly presented by other news quarters....
