TAUSCHER CALLS AIR STRIKES NECESSARY
URGES SUPPORT OF U.S. TROOPS IN BALKANS
Washington, DC -- Congresswoman Ellen O. Tauscher (D-Contra Costa/Alameda Counties), a member of the House Armed Services Committee who visited with U.S. troops in the Balkans on a fact-finding mission last December, today called the air strikes against President Slobodan Milosovichs military necessary. She issued the following statement:
"Launching air strikes against President Milosovich is necessary to contain the problem in the Balkans and to stop the systematic killing of innocent men, women and children. We also need to put a premium on getting rid of Mr. Milosovich, the Bad Boy of the Balkans who has launched genocidal attacks against the ethnic Albanians in Kosovo.
"Mr. Milosovich has proven time and again that he is not going to keep his promises, that he is not going to negotiate in good faith and that he is going to continue his acts of genocide.
"After we threatened air strikes last fall, Milosovich begged for one more chance to do the right thing. We gave him that chance and he responded by continuing his reign of terror on the ethnic Albanians who make up 90% of all people in Kosovo. So far, he has killed more than 2,000 innocent people, has left 60,000 homeless and has dislocated 240,000 people from their communities. These air strikes are meant to degrade Mr. Milosovichs military capabilities so that he can no longer level this campaign of violence against his own people.
"Put simply, Mr. Milosovich ran out of second chances a long time ago when he refused to negotiate with the Kosovar Albanians and NATO in good faith. We need to carry out these air strikes to force Mr. Milosovich to the table. Only Mr. Milosovich can stop the killing and give Kosovo back the autonomy that they enjoyed for years before he took it away.
"I was in an airplane in Sarajevo about to take off for Pristina in Kosovo last December when we found out that 31 innocent people had been killed that morning. I visited with the U.S. troops in Bosnia and in Macedonia, as well as with the NATO officers. The American people should know that our troops and the NATO command under U.S. leadership is ready to carry out this mission in an effective and efficient manner. There is complete unity among the NATO nations for these air strikes against Milosovich because we know that if we do not stop his reign of terror now, it very well may spread to the surrounding countries."
Oh, I forgot. Clinton is no longer president, and power is all that matters to the liberals. There is no right and wrong, only "us vs. them." And in their minds, they are the embodiment of what's right and just. That's why conservatism is so "evil" to them, to their way of thinking. Their closed-mindedness and arrogance is why they object to absolute truth -- they feel they are right in and of themselves!
As long as a liberal is in charge, his choices are always right since he himself is right; therefore, every decision is a step toward "utopia." However, when someone else is in charge, everything is "headed for ruin." The real reason for the Democratic position is that they feel they must be in power for utopia to be realized. It's also why they can live in open hypocrisy -- the same situation is totally different when they're not in charge.
That's why liberalism, with all it's arrogance, must be defeated. They exalt themselves above God because of their belief in their self-righteousness.
It's actually far more sinister than you or I could ever contemplate, much less put into words. We're going to be horrified at the judgment when everything is revealed for what it is.
However, Saddam possesses biological, chemical, and possibly nuclear weapons, desires to expand his kingdom, destroy Israel and the U.S., and now we're supposed to sit back and wait for the irrelevant U.N. to give us permission like the libbies want? I don't think so. Peace through strength.
