Mayor Overruled on Mixed Marriage
PARIS (Reuters) - Serge Dassault, the French aviation magnate who also happens to be mayor of a Paris suburb, has been ordered by a court to wed a couple he refused to unite because he suspected theirs was a marriage of convenience.
Better known in the world of fighter jets and expensive planes, Dassault refused to perform the typical French mayor's Saturday duty recently because the relationship between the French woman and Tunisian man seemed unusual to him.
"People marry to create a family, but the bride is 52 years old and the groom is 25," said Dassault, who is mayor of Corbel-Essonnes on the southeastern outskirts of Paris.
Dassault, whose family controls plane maker Dassault Aviation, has been given until the end of the month to fix a new date for the wedding and ordered to pay the bride and the groom 400 euros ($432) each in compensation.
The mayor's office said Tuesday that Dassault's appeal against the court ruling could be heard in about a week.

Muhammad married his first wife, Khadija, when he was 25 and she was 45. It may have been for love, but since she was not only quite a wealthy widow but also his employer, there may have been other considerations.
So this boob was just following the example of the Prophet.
