The Israeli embassy here has expressed "horror" at a cartoon published in the London daily Independent depicting Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as a monster eating a headless baby.
The cartoon was published on Monday, when Britain marked Holocaust Day, and the embassy spokesperson Shuli Davidovich noted that the cartoon evoked "an ancient Jewish stereotype which would not have looked out of place in the 'Der Sturmer,' and which can unfortunately still be found in many Arabic newspapers."
In a letter to the editor, published on Tuesday, she said the "blood-thirsty imagery not only misrepresents the real reason for the IDF's operations in Gaza, but also feeds the hostility toward Israel and the Jewish people, which lies at the very core of the Arab-Israeli conflict."
While acknowledging that criticism of Israel "has its place," she noted that "our actions and policies are examined daily - not only by our own democratic institutions and independent media, but also by our citizens. . .
"However," she added, "one must be extremely careful to draw the line between legitimate criticism, and the anti-Semitism that often parades as such. Tragically, the Independent failed to do so." (ENDS)

People don't realize it, but based on the Anti-Semitism in the British press, Hitler actually won WWII.

Europe is still the bunghole of the world. Anti-semitism still thrives, and it is therefore no different than the Arabic world. Had we left Europe to destroy itself in WW2, we'd all be better off, and EUrope would be nothing but a no-man's land, instead of posing an open political threat to the US.
Real thought moves past anti-semitism to examine actions. While we may not agree with how Israel runs its business, (and I do, actually) it is their business, and criticisms should be based on policy, not race.
More proof that liberals are racists.
It's disgusting.

anti-semitism is alive and well in europe, a "civilized" place. just like the arabic world, some people you just can't change. instead of criticizing policy, the left criticizes race.
we should have left them to destroy each other in WW2 instead of rebuilding those thankless jerks. after all, they haven't changed.
it's only because of the US that the jewish state has any friends.
i am disgusted by that cartoon.
