Several illegal immigrants arrested on USS Kennedy
First Coast News ^ | Jan 23, 2003

JACKSONVILLE, Fl (AP) -- The Navy discovered 65 illegal immigrants among the workers hired to renovate the USS John F. Kennedy at Mayport Naval Station. Eleven illegal Mexican immigrants were arrested and charged yesterday with possessing false documentation. The other immigrants are still at large.

The Navy discovered the illegal workers during a routine review of the status of foreign-born workers hired by the contractors and subcontractors renovating the carrier. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service then asked the Immigration and Naturalization Service for assistance.

The 11 men arrested worked for Moran Environmental Recovery. It is unclear whether Moran will face charges. The USS John F. Kennedy is getting a $200 million makeover to extend its service life another 15 years. About 25-hundred contractors will do the work and will be assisted by sailors.

A year ago, several illegals were discovered in San Diego working on a U.S. Navy drydock right next to one of our nuclear submarines. Clearly the Navy hasn't learned much from that incident if it isn't vetting workers before they gain access to sensitive areas.

I guess the Navy will have to use robots to remove the grime from inside the reactor. Too bad...government jobs are hard to get ya know.

Wasn't this posted the other day? There is really nothing to see here. We have homeland security now and those illegal aliens on our warships are just doing the job lazy Americans don't want.

Illegals work for less money. Companies will accept their false documents because they know that immigration laws will not be enforced and they will not get fined.

Who says illegal aliens don't take American jobs? There are several million of them in the U.S., and most of them are working somewhere, with or without false documents. They're also collecting welfare and everything else for their families with their false documents, courtesy of U.S. taxpayers.

I imagine dozens of illegals lining the catwalks hoping to make a quick few bucks cleaning up landing aircraft ala Home Depot.

WTF? Sixty Five is rather more than what is usually meant by "several".

OBTW, JFK hasn't any reactors. She's oil powered.

Ah. OK, I'll accept eleven as several. But I'm not placing any bets with you about where the 54 fugitives are from or whether they got some sort of warning from their imam.

They are here to do the jobs that Americans don't want, like refurbishing nuclear-powered aircraft carriers on our military bases, servicing commercial aircraft at the national airports, setting up event functions at the White House, and other trivial jobs like that. (hopefully no sarcasm tag is needed here.)

Dear God!

At some point, we have to ask ourselves if we are just too damn stupid to survive as a nation.

You are correct. I missed that in my earlier post.

From http://www.thirteen.org/julyfourth/jfk.html

Named for the 35th President of the United States, the USS JOHN F. KENNEDY was christened by President Kennedy's 9-year old daughter, Caroline, in May 1967, in Newport News, Virginia, and entered service on September 7, 1968.

The JFKOriginally designated as a CVA 67 attack aircraft carrier, KENNEDY was re-classified as a CV 67 in the early 1970s, indicating the ship was capable of supporting anti-submarine warfare aircraft, and making it an all-purpose, multi-mission aircraft carrier. In The mid '70s, KENNEDY was upgraded to handle both the f-14 "Tomcat" and the S-3 "Viking."

Her history of service includes deployment to the Middle East in the 1970s and '80s, and participation in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. In addition to receiving several Silver Anchor Awards, she has also won the RADM Flatley Award for Safety and the Battenburg Cup for being the overall best ship in the Atlantic Fleet in 1982. KENNEDY is the last non-nuclear USN carrier to be constructed and is scheduled to serve through approximately 2018. She underwent major COH reconstruction in Philadelphia from 1993-1995. Her mission of deterring aggression is fulfilled by operating independently in international waters with an air wing capable of responding to any potential crisis.

I completely agree. This is really beyond belief. And an absolute national disgrace.

A government that can not or will not secure it's borders and uphold it's sovereignty, will itself, eventually become illegitimate.

Remember when we used to call them "illegal aliens"? And I'm a lot less worried about the 11 Mexican illegal aliens (they're bad enough) than about the 54 they didn't arrest. Where are they from? Where are they currently hiding? Would you want to take a ride down a steam catapult that had just been refurbished by, say, an illegal alien from Saudi Arabia?

Didn't think so.

Absurd! Charges (with HUGE fines) are appropriate and neccessary!
