Stephens, senior editor of special projects in Ithaca College's Office of College Relations, is ...leaving Thursday for Iraq. Her husband, George Sapio, has also volunteered to join the delegation as its official photographer. ****Before she signed on for the trip, Stephens contacted an old coworker at Newsweek magazine. Liberal media alert.
Four groups at the college --the Office of the Provost, the Office of Marketing, the Office of Interdisciplinary Studies and the Office of Culture, Race and Ethnicity -- each donated $500 to help Stephens pay for the trip. ****Collection boxes are located at several places on the Ithaca College campus. Donations can be dropped off at the Office of Continuing Education in the Towers Concourse, the Office of the Provost in the third floor of Job Hall, and Stephens' office in 229 Alumni Hall.
Further evidence of how mainstreamed this sort of nonsense is in Ithaca. It's not just the peace groups and students sponsoring this tripe, it's the college administrations.
...she is hoping to collect ...letters and cards for Iraqi families.
I think we should all send some letters with her. Mine will say: "Cheer up. We are coming to LIBERATE you."
While in Iraq, the group will be meeting with U.N. weapons inspectors and visiting hospitals...
Great, that's ALL the inspectors need: more distractions.
The delegation will be under surveillance the whole time, and a special Iraqi "handler" has been assigned to guide and monitor them, Stephens said.
And yet, this leftist idiot doesn't realize--or doesn't care--that she is going to be used for little more than anti-American propaganda. Sick, but not surprising around here.
Ithaca is the City of Evil.

Medea Benjamin AGAIN... "Code Pink"?? At that last pro-Saddam rally in October, I thought I heard her call it "Unreasonable Women". Guess she thought "Code Pink" would be taken more seriously.

"Primarily, we'll be meeting with women's groups," Somebody cue me in - just how many women's groups are there in Iraq?

These are not "groups" at the college - they are departments of the college itself. In other words, Ithaca College is using student tuition money for blatantly partisan, political purposes. This is outrageous.

Alright, that's it. I know Ithica shotguns are no longer made in Ithica; but I no longer want one. Just the name turns makes me ill. I don't want to own anything with that name on it.

"War is a women's issue," says Code Pink organizer Medea Benjamin, adding that talk of war has been dominated by "testosterone-poisoned rhetoric." You know, I'm really not a retrograde Neanderthal type of guy - I just play one on TV ;) - but this is the sort of woman I'd love to walk up to and say something like "Now don't yew worry yor purty little head none, missy. Yew just sit back and let the menfolk settle this"...
Why? Because it would make her more nuts, which is an end unto itself :^)

talk of war has been dominated by "testosterone-poisoned rhetoric."During the October rally I mentioned, Medea was going on and on about "the lethal combination of testosterone and oil" poisoning the planet (she ran for Senate once on the Green ticket, btw. We were all hooting about that on the live thread, and one poster commented that "estrogen had poisoned her brain".
So Medea has decided to be Gulf War II's Margot Kidder. Remember her, Miss "There's a lethal level of testosterone in the air"? And we know how she ended up...

So Medea has decided to be Gulf War II's Margot Kidder. Hmmm. Medea ran for the Senate on the Green ticket, whereas Margot was the voice of "Gaia, the Spirit of the Earth" on that awful "Captain Planet" cartoon. And then Margot went bananas and started hanging around in other people's topiaries. Clearly, Medea needs to turn away from the Dark Side of the Force, before it's too late.
Don't end up like Margot, Medea...
