It's not easy to carry a cell phone unless you carry your purse too. It is difficult to walk the dog carrying a purse. So if you are only walking on your block, or across the street in the park, you stick your keys in your pocket and leave the other stuff at home. If you live in a quiet neighborhood, you don't even bring your keys -- you leave the house unlocked.

Most people I know who walk their dog, ride a bike, take a hike, strap on a fanny pack which makes it easy to take their cell phone, keys, etc.

I'm beginning to believe she never walked the dog, too. But I did think she would have been able to 8 1/2 months into her pregnancy; if it is a well-behaved dog, it shouldn't be much effort.

This mystery is way too intriguing. FReepers are digging up fascinating bits and pieces and have made a case of guilt in my mind.

Amber's dad says she did nothing wrong. Um, seems to me she's done something wrong more than once. She's a single mother, so obvously she was messing around once before with someone who either would not marry her or was not marriage material. OK, it could be argued that everybody is entitled to one mistake. But then she takes up with this loser and goes to bed with him before she knows anything about him. That's a fine example to set for her young child. Maybe Amber needs to learn a lesson here, at long last, and keep her panties pulled up for awhile.

Men rob pregant pizza delivery woman

Three men attacked and robbed a seven-month pregnant pizza delivery woman one nightlast week on West Fisher Street. The men lured her to the area with a fake order, she said.

The Post is withholding the identity of the victim because the suspects have not been apprehended.

The 27-year-old victim says her experience in law enforcement helped her keep her cool.

A former law enforcement officer, the victim said one of the suspects grabbed her face from behind and forced her to the ground. Her initial reaction was to fight back, but she saw two other suspects approaching.

“I analyzed the situation and even if I would have fought off the one, there were two others there waiting,” she said. The victim said she never saw a gun but one of the men was yelling, “She won’t shut up, just shoot her.”

So the pregnant woman gave the men her fanny pack with customers’ checks, some money and her pager.

“Other people will panic and won’t give up. No amount of money is worth your life,” she said. “My being able to think rationally comes from my training and background.”

The night of the attack, the victim went to Rowan Regional Medical Center and was treated for cuts and bruises.

“The baby is OK. It didn’t break my water or increase my contractions, so everything is OK,” she said.

The woman started working at Domino’s last week. She said she’s worked there off and on.

After the robbery, “I decided I am not going to deliver again until after the baby is born,” she said.

“This is my third part-time job so I can get Christmas money, and they have to rob me for Christmas money,” the victim said.

“Whoever would have delivered that order would have gotten robbed, it was a set up,” the victim said.

The call came to Domino’s around 9:15 p.m. on Dec. 1. to deliver two pizzas, breadsticks and a two-liter drink to 1110 W. Fisher St.

The woman went to that address and noticed that the porch light was not on. She had walked to the door, her hands full, when a man came out of a nearby alley and approached her from behind.

After he forced her to the ground, she gave them her fanny pack and they ran away.

Thinking back, the woman says she knew better than to overload herself and not keep one hand free.

“This applies to any woman, always have a free hand to fight someone off if need be. And be aware of the people around you. It is so important to pay attention,” she said.

A co-worker at Domino’s, who asked not to be identified, said the pizza chain is not delivering to the 1100 block of West Fisher after dark any more.

For the third or fourth time in recent history, drivers have been in similar situations.

“In the past ten years, the three or four different times we (Domino’s) have been robbed, it has been in that area,” the employee said.

There are other precautions the pizza chain is incorporating to ensure the safety of their employees and maintain service to their customers, the employee said.

The victim reminds shoppers, “If something doesn’t seem right, it probably isn’t. This is the time of the year where people really get desperate, but nothing is worth my life or my baby’s life.”
