Rita also mentioned that the police believe Scott's 'burglary' was done by a family member to replace something inside that was not in place.

Scott's parents live in San Diego, I believe. Laci's family live in Modesto. So who are we to believe broke into the house. Or is there a member of the Peterson family living nearby, too?

Anyone care to speculate on who exactly broke into the house?

I had heard the burglary was performed by someone "known" to the family -- not a member of the family.

That's odd. Makes it sound like someone else besides Scott is doing something devious. Wonder why?

sounds to me he is going further into denial, and really believes he had nothing to do with it. And that is how he is convincing himself, and his family he didn't do it, nor a fling, nor he has no idea where Laci is. Someone needs to snap a reality check with cuffs on him, and bolt him to the nearest fall wall pad, before he burst out of control....

A follow up on the decapitated body from Riverside County last week.FYI, since it was co-mingled into the findings for Laci

Two young Riverside men arrested in decapitated body find

Two young Riverside men arrested in decapitated body find Associated Press

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Authorities said Saturday they arrested two young men in connection with the death of a woman whose decapitated body was discovered on an Orange County highway near the Cleveland National Forest.

Orange County authorities arrested the two males Friday at the Mission Grove Gardens apartment complex in Riverside in Riverside County.

Los Angeles TV stations reported that the two were sons of the victim, but Orange County sheriff's spokesman, Lt. Dave Wilson, refused to confirm the reports and declined to release any other information about the arrests.

He said the Orange County Sheriff's Department would neither confirm nor deny the reports until a news conference scheduled for Monday morning.

"It's still an ongoing investigation," Wilson said Saturday. "We still have things to be put together."

The body, with head and hands severed, has not been identified, Orange County coroner's investigators said Saturday.

Orange County sheriff's deputies spent at least 12 hours searching the apartment unit where the two males were arrested.

The Orange County Register reported for Sunday editions that neighbors in the five-building apartment complex said a woman with the last name Bautista lived in the apartment with her two sons, ages 15 and 20.

A telephone operator confirmed that a person with the last name Bautista was listed at the complex, but a telephone number was unpublished.

The Register reported that arrest records show that on Friday afternoon, deputies arrested Jason V. Bautista, 20. They booked him at the Orange County jail Saturday for investigation of murder, with bail set at $1 million.

There was no listing for a younger Bautista. The jail only houses adults.

Neighbors also said the woman at the apartment had strawberry blonde hair. Authorities said the victim may have had red hair.

The corpse was found Jan. 15 in a ravine near Ortega Highway by a couple driving by the remote area. Police said the woman was about 5-8, 150 pounds to 175 pounds.

Peterson family keeping quiet

Peterson family keeping quiet

By BRIAN VanderBEEK
BEE STAFF WRITER

SOLANA BEACH -- Two things greeted visitors Saturday morning at 1508 Santa Sabina Court:

A playful springer spaniel with a tennis ball in its mouth peeking through the bars of a wrought-iron fence, and a sign on the door meant to keep media away from the home of Scott Peterson's parents, Lee and Jacqueline Peterson.

"We will not talk to anyone," the sign reads. "My wife is ill; you are contributing to that. Please respect our privacy."

The sign asks people to direct "any questions" to a family friend, and gives a name and telephone number.

Saturday morning's visitors, when they got close enough to read the hand-written note on the front door, could hear voices behind a window.

There was life in the house, but the couple was not ready to address the issues involving their son and their missing daughter-in-law, Laci Peterson.

Steve Howard, whose phone number was on the front door, responded to The Bee's morning call, saying that the Petersons were expected to issue a statement "imminently." Saturday night, he said no statement would be issued after all.

As for talking with the Petersons: "The drawbridge is drawn up," Howard said.

Scott Peterson's parents live in a one-story home that sits on a corner at the entrance to a short cul-de-sac in this upper-middle-class neighborhood called San Elijo Hills.

The Peterson case has attracted media from throughout the country to Modesto, but the only activity in this neighborhood Saturday was the occasional dog walker.

From his home across the street and three houses down, John Knoth, 45, has an unobstructed view of the Peterson home. He was taking advantage of the 75-degree weather to detail his vehicles. A Harley-Davidson motorcycle sat in the driveway and a sports car looked at home in his garage.

"I'm one of the youngsters down here," said Knoth, who has been following the Peterson case on television but had no idea that it had any connection to his neighborhood.

"I haven't seen Scott Peterson, and I had no idea his parents lived right over there."

The mailbox reads "Peterson," but Knoth said he was not sure how many of his neighbors realized the connection.

Knoth described the area as very quiet, with few children and a lot of retired couples, and "ridiculously expensive." He said the 2,200-square-foot house next door to him sold for $660,000 last summer and the new owners spent $350,000 on upgrades before moving in.

The homes are old for San Diego County's northern region, an area of explosive growth.

Less than a mile away, arroyo ranchland once owned by Bing Crosby is being converted into a twisted tangle of upscale homes and championship golf.

Knoth said his house was at least 25 years old, a statement backed up by looking at the real ceramic tile roofs on most of the homes -- as opposed to the concrete tiles that many builders now use.

He said he bought his home for "around $280,000" in 1997 and that he had no idea how much the Petersons paid for their home when they moved in about 18 months ago.

"This is a great neighborhood," said Knoth, wearing the baseball cap of the California League's Lake Elsinore Storm. "There's no fear here. No thefts, no crime."

Only silence from the house on the corner and a friendly dog looking for a game of fetch.

For all the labeling yesterday, and Friday, on Amber Frey, here is a family statement article from the Fresno Bee:

Woman hurt by ties to Peterson
Frey's father says she thought romance 'was the real thing.'

Woman hurt by ties to Peterson
Frey's father says she thought romance 'was the real thing.'

By Louis Galvan
The Fresno Bee

(Published Sunday, January 26, 2003, 5:24 AM)

The father of a Fresno-area woman says his daughter's life has been turned upside down by her brief relationship with Scott Peterson.

"She really thought he was a truly fine person," Ron Frey, 50, said Saturday during an interview at his north Fresno home.

Amber Frey, 28, said Friday night in an emotional news conference in Modesto that when she and Peterson met Nov. 20, she was unaware he was married to Laci Peterson, a 27-year-old pregnant woman who has been missing for more than a month.

Said Ron Frey: "She had no clue in the world that he was married. She was proud to be with him."

He said his daughter never would have struck up a romantic relationship had she known Peterson has a wife.

"She's single, she met someone she liked, and she really thought he was the real thing," he said. "She never meant to hurt anyone."

Instead, he said, his daughter became a victim of someone she trusted and now feels "embarrassed and shattered."

"But I keep telling her that she didn't do anything wrong," Ron Frey said. "He not only fooled her, but he fooled the nation for a month."

Laci Peterson was eight months pregnant when she disappeared on Christmas Eve from her Modesto home. Suspicion now surrounds her 31-year-old husband, who reportedly took out a $250,000 life insurance policy on Laci. Modesto police have said Scott Peterson has not been eliminated as a suspect in his wife's disappearance.

Police also say Amber Frey is not a suspect in Laci's disappearance, which has attracted national attention.

Frey, who said he never met Scott Peterson, added he could not talk about how many times his daughter got together with Peterson after they were introduced by friends in November. But he acknowledged Peterson had met Amber Frey's 23-month-old daughter: "He even held [the child]."

He said his daughter was hurt when Peterson told her he wasn't going to be around for Christmas: "He told her was going to Paris. Nobody leaves his girlfriend alone on Christmas.

"He told her that because of his job, he had to travel all over the country and that it was not unusual for him to be gone from home for up to 30 days at time."

Ron Frey said it was not easy for his daughter to come forward and contact Modesto police about her relationship with Peterson.

He said he watched the Friday night news conference on television. "I'm very pleased at the way Modesto police handled the situation," he said. "It was very important for the public to know right away that my daughter is also a victim in this thing."

Amber Frey, who has a home in Madera Ranchos in Madera County, has been staying with friends for weeks. "Right now, she does not know what's going to happen," her father said.

And because of all the publicity surrounding the Peterson case, he said, his daughter doesn't know when or if she will return to her job as a massage therapist in Fresno. "Right now, she just wants everything to go away. How do you make this go away?"

Laci Peterson was due to deliver her baby on Feb. 10.

Amber Frey was born on Feb. 10, 1975.

And who was saying about can't prosecute on the evidence without the findings of Laci?

'Model' dad suspect in mother's death

'Model' dad suspect in mother's death LAS VEGAS - A Las Vegas man once honored as a model father has been indicted in the death of his 87-year-old mother.

A grand jury indictment unsealed Friday charges William Rundle with murdering his mother, Willa, who vanished in the mid-1990s.

Rundle, 57, already faced murder charges in the August death of his 63-year-old wife, Shirley, whose bludgeoned body was found in a remote area near Susanville.

While he confessed to that crime after his October arrest in Florida, William Rundle told police that his wife killed his mother with morphine tablets, then disposed of the body without telling him the details.

Although the mother's body has never been found, Clark County prosecutors say there's sufficient circumstantial evidence that Rundle murdered her and collected her Social Security checks.

William Rundle, a former security guard, first came to the public's attention when a Las Vegas organization honored him as a model father in 1986, after his son submitted a school essay titled "My Dad is the Best."

A year later, his 11-year-old son, Richie, was killed while pushing a friend from the path of a drunken driver.

Prosecutors theorize that William Rundle wanted his wife dead because she was going to notify authorities that he was wrongfully taking his mother's money. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

...the authorities will wait to make an potential arrest until then.

How do the authorities conduct a "potential arrest"? Is that something related to trial by media?

I saw the Rita Cosby show last evening. Rita claims that Laci's parents have been communicating with Amber and suggested Amber has been supplying Laci's family with a weath of information.
