If it says processed cheese food, it is nasty. If it is individually wrapped, it is nasty. This is the rule for American cheese. I have bought cheese that refuses to melt. And NEVER buy individually wrapped cheddar.

I just don't think with his name on the bill that it will pass. Punishment for defection.

Assuming that when you say "good for the dairy industry" you mean the small dairy farmers and independent dairies, I think it would be a stain on the GOP to booger this bill simply as political payback against Jeffords. The doggone idiots should set politics aside now and then and just plain do the right thing if it's the right thing to do.

I know it doesn't work that way, but I hate it when they constantly act like morons just for the sake of proving that one group of morons has more political power than the other group of morons.

Where the hell is John McCain. We really need a McCain-Feingold-Jeffords-Leahy bill to truly make it an inclusive loser bill.

The "findings" sound good to me, so I think I'd be in favor of passage.

Cheese is a federal matter?

By the way, the "findings" of the gun grabbing bills cite the Bradys and VPC all the time ... there is no legal requirement that the findings be factual.

Is there some sort of "subsidy" lurking in the wording of this bill? I cannot ever trust Jeffords or Sen Leahy, a couple of socialists.

That "cheese food" stuff is crappy (and not cheese), individually wrapped or not. Not sure where your comment comes from about not buying individually wrapped cheddar though. I suppose it depends on the brand. Hereabouts, we always have plenty of Tillamook cheddar available. It is good, pre sliced or not. Bandon is also good, but the final batch of Bandon cheddar is on store shelves now (and some of it is in my fridge), the plant that made it is being made into a tourist museum.
Cheddars vary though, and I see the national brand stuff sometimes come out too soft, and it won't slice well. This time of year, you also have to watch out for cheeses that have been frozen. If your cheddar crumbles when you slice it, that's the problem. Once frozen cheese also will not melt.

Not sure what business any of this is to the federal government, though.

"I think it would be a stain on the GOP to booger this bill simply as political payback"

I think it's a "stain" on these Demonicrats for bringing this bill as payback for what the Repellicans already did as payback for Judas Jefford's defection.

I think it's a "stain" on you for thinking that politics should ever be used as a mere tool for rewarding your friends, while punishing your enemies... To the point that laws like this penetrate down into everyday lives and everyday business affairs!

With your constant "cheerleading" for "the little guy" and urging people in either major party to "encourage" any particular "reward" for some perceived "morality" or other, you are encouraging the "abuse" of the power of the people, vested in these elected representatives!!!

It may be "populism" to you Willie, but to me, it's turning our representatives of either stripe into nattering naybob nazinannies of negativity and increases my contempt of "populism" and my contempt of congress... because "The doggone idiots" CAN'T "set politics aside now and then and just plain do the right thing if it's the right thing to do."

They CAN'T because folks like you think they're helpin the underdawg, comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable, and really they're just playing "get-even-with-'em-ism" with each other to no one's benefit. Yet you cheer them on if you agree with it as "the right thing to do!!!

I actually think we could learn something from the Europeans with their labeling laws. You can sell crap, you just can't call it filet mignon at the same time.

If I am buying cheese, I expect it to be cheese, not reconstituted dried powder with artificial colors, flavors etc. Name it Cheeze or something, just don't sell me false goods.

Would any of you buy ground MOOSE patties, that was actually 95% filler product? I think not.

I think you stained your brain with some kind of hallucinogen.
I never advocated that politics be used to reward friends and punish enemies.
I stated very clearly up front on this thread that I prefer "truth in labeling".
If I purchase milk or cheese, I want it to be REAL milk or cheese. NOT some artificial crap masquerading as milk or cheese.
