Please tell me that my tax dollars weren't used for this study.

I've always wondered at people so narrow-minded they think anything in science that doesn't have an IMMEDIATE practical application is a waste of time and money.

It could actually eventually have implications for pesticides, regardless.

The main expense is building the synchrotron and that was built for other purposes, anyway. It's a sunk cost so the study really doesn't cost much at all.

OK... Let's assume that there's a practical application; like better pesticides. I STILL don't want my tax dollars used! Let Ortho and S.E. Johnson pay for their own research.
