The FBI, under political pressure from the Clinton administration, purposely covered up evidence of a terrorist missile strike against TWA Flight 800 in 1996, charges a book to be released in early March.
"First Strike," by investigative reporters Jack Cashill and James Sanders, shows the overwhelming evidence ignored, obscured, buried and destroyed by FBI agents placed in charge of investigating the air disaster July 17, 1996, off the coast of Long Island. Some 230 people died in the explosion making the incident the biggest, deadliest terrorist strike on American soil prior to Sept. 11, the authors say.
Cashill and Sanders have uncovered startling new evidence about the crash, including a critical Islamic terrorist connection covered up by federal investigators to give America a false sense of peace leading to the presidential elections three months later.
Cashill and Sanders chronicle the way news reports in the immediate aftermath of the explosion all focused on the likelihood of a bomb or missile destroying the plane. Dozens of witnesses reported seeing a bright object streak toward the plane just before the explosion. The trail of an apparent missile streak was caught on radar and apparently on video.
All of this evidence would be deliberately spiked by investigators reporting to political operatives in the White House.
Cashill and Sanders discredit the official version of events told by the National Transportation Safety Board and FBI documenting myriad cases of malfeasance, lies and cover-ups inside the investigation and, perhaps worse for the nation, outside, as the fraudulent information was filtered to reporters and a credulous American people.
"You want a smoking gun?" asks Joseph Farah, editor of WorldNetDaily and cofounder of WND Books, the publisher of "First Strike." "This is the smoking gun. This is the book that will help you understand why we were all shocked on Sept. 11, 2001, when, in fact, our government had many warnings when there were previous, major, unacknowledged terrorist attacks like TWA Flight 800."
"First Strike," the fourth release from Thomas Nelson imprint WND Books, takes readers step by step through the deception explaining the motives and methods of a cover-up designed to make Americans believe that 230 fellow citizens hadn't died at the hands of Islamic terrorists.
Readers can pre-order "First Strike" today at WND's online store, ShopNetDaily, where it will be exclusively available beginning in February, before being made available at bookstores in March.

Sorry, but I remain skeptical. While the Clintons and their goons would be ready and willing to cover up something of this magnitude in a heartbeat, I have a problem believing that the government could keep the secret.
Somebody somewhere would tell. Or maybe they have and I've not heard of it.

If there was a cover-up, then Bush is continuing it. Was there a cover-up?

Oh yeah... you have stooped to juvenile name calling.... those names might hurt my feelings... and it's illegal in PC America to hurt my feelings.

It may be difficult to uncover what has been covered, if done well. Witness the difficulty Jayna Davis has encountered merely getting a Congresscritter to read her investigation re:OKC bombing. And are there or aren't there videos showing a "...Middle-Eastern man exiting the Ryder truck with McVeigh?" Larry Johnson posited in the affirmative. Others deny.
See the problem? If Klintler covered-up OKC, then he surely would be capable of covering up an aircraft shoot-down....

But some of these same people have insisted that there was a "massive" Naval Exercise ... and a test of a missile system and "Battle Management Software" . .. and the TWA flight 800 was brought down by a Navy Missile.
So what is it? A massive conspiracy to cover up a Navy accident .... or a massive conspiracy to cover up a terrorist strike .... or a massive conspiracy to .....? [Can't you see it ... or have they gotten to you also!!)

I have been skeptical when it comes to this case, and I still am.
But every friend or family member I have who was in the Navy at the time believes the Navy accidentally shot down the plane.
I report, you decide.

As far as the Navy accidentally shooting the plane down I feel a lot of people would be in the know and it would have leaked out by now.
The terrorist theory seems more likely to me. - Tom

I was on Westhampton Beach that day and saw TWA800 explode. I doubt that a missle hit the plane. I certainly didn't see any upward plume characteristic with the solid rocket fuels usually used in SAMS. Further, the plane was some distance from the shore and fairly high up, likely putting it out of range of most SAMS. If it was hit by a missle it could have only come from the air and most AAMS also use solid fuels that leave a plume -- there was none visible from the coast.
I do believe that the FBI messed things up because they were determined that this was going to be a criminal/terrorism investigation rather then an aircraft failure and just couldn't go about proving it. When the missle idea first hit the news you could see the FBI guys literally wetting their pants on TV. I'm sure it was a big disappointment to them that it wasn't.

The problem I have with that report is that x42 hated the military, and I keep thinking he would have gloried in the opportunity to embarass them; cut their funding; ridicule them before the world.

Hmmmm? Your report of no plume does not match with 80% of the people WHO DID SEE ONE!
