But Bonne, if that were true, knowing what we know (or think we know...!)why wouldn't he just let her go? Why kill her?
It may be just the opposite with Laci angry and pleading to a cheating husband that led to a violent end.
It would be a lot cheaper for Scott if he was a widower rather than a divorced Dad in California, which has insanely high child support awards, plus he'd be stuck in Modesto since part of child support is predicated on how much time one spends with the kid -- he moves somewhere where it's harder to see the boy, he pays more in child support because he's spending less time with him. If she threatened him with divorce, I certainly would consider that he would have motive for murder. The dirty skunkin' rat -- if he's got one mistress, he's probably got a bunch of 'em. What puzzles me is that Laci had to know, for awhile yet. She'd have been better off divorcing him before getting pregant. Sad gal, she deluded herself.
Wait just a minute on that one, Finny. They had been married only 5 years. Laci's entire family swore on his fidelity, loyalty and love for Laci. They were the perfect, loving, model couple. That's what everyone said.
Scott was a good con. He could well have been fooling around on her for 2 years and she didn't have a clue. She trusted him. There are women who trust their husbands, I'm one of them.
OTOH, think about his "girlfriend". Even SHE had no clue Scott was married. She said he told her he was divorced and planned on marrying HER!
So, please don't think it automatic that poor Laci had any idea her husband was unfaithful.
Look at the way he is still conning people to this day, and you can see how convincing he is. "Who me"? Yeah, right Scott!
