My impression of Brown's demeanor was that he felt an inner outrage over what Ritter had done. He obviously had planned ahead by consulting network lawyers about the law and called Ritter on his stonewalling lie.

He was given 6 months probation in addition to the mandatory "counseling." He violated his probation and walked. Do you believe it's SOP for probation violators to skip away as though nothing ever happened?

"I want you looking up and looking at me and focused on me."

Yech! Scottie having a David Lynch moment.

As I understand it, he was only charged the second time. In the first incident he wasn't even charged, let alone convicted. The cops just gave him a talking to. Again, if I'm understanding this correctly, there was no parole violation. Scottie's statements are "legally correct." Legally, he doesn't have a criminal record.

No problemo, ganeshpuri.

Yes, there is. Go to the home page. Scroll down the left menu to the "Forum Registry" heading and select "help and guidelines."

"He was never even charged in the first incident."

Yes, that's my understanding too. But I also read in one of the posted articles here that he violated parole. I could have that wrong and thanks for pointing this out.

Mike Barnacle just asked him if he had ever had any psychological treatment.

He's one angry man. He even said Bush had something to do with 9-11.

"now that Ritter is useless to his handlers, you can expect the rest to come out soon, just to finish the job"

And poor Pitt lost his "big break". Sad. LOL! Well, a man is known by the company he keeps.

In the link you provided Ritter claimed he is/was "one of the topmost experts on Iraq". He's not bashful

IMO .. Ritter came off looking like and arrogant piece of #&$* ...

It's not like he got caught with a DUI or even caught cheating on his wife

He got caught surfing the internet for UNDERAGED GIRLS and if he was caught at least twice .. you can bet he has been doing this sort of thing for a long time

And poor Pitt lost his "big break".

I can hear Ritter now --- "C'mon Will, this will all blow over. The charges were dropped so it's like it never happened. People will forget about it soon. Let's get on with our book tour. The news channels are begging for us to come on their program... well, me anyway... but you can come along too. Let's go do some TV, then we'll stop off at Burger King and... Hello?"

How can sealing a case remove the presumption of guilt?

It means that as long as he is not "caught" trying to meet underage girls during his probation the case is sealed and he gets off .. I've seen this done with 1st case DUI's but I'm surprised that an ADA or a Judge would agree to this type of case.

From the Daily Gazette --

More Details in Former Weapons Inspector's Arrest More details are emerging on the arrest of former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter. The Delmar resident was arrested by Colonie police in June of 2001 on a misdemeanor charge. And Channel 6 News has learned that Ritter had been issued a warning after being caught by police once before. Colonie police will not confirm any of this, but Channel 6 News learned that Ritter was caught in a sex sting early in 2001. He was issued a warning then, but eventually arrested for the same thing three months later. Ritter, who has made national headlines for speaking out against going to war with Iraq is keeping silent on this issue. He has been unavailable for comment since details of his arrest were made public. In June of 2001, Ritter was accused of engaging in a sexual discussion, on the Internet with a person who he thought, was a 14 year old girl. It was actually an undercover investigator who agreed to meet with Ritter. When Ritter arrived at the location, expecting to meet the girl, police warned him that he had been set up. Three months later Ritter allegedly fell into the same trap, only this time he was arrested. The misdemeanor charge relating to child endangerment was eventually disposed of and sealed. [He clearly was guilty of solicitation of sex with a minor, and yet he was only charged with class B child endangerment -- and this was his second offense. Don't know about you, GS, but this doesn't pass my smell test.]Assistant District Attorney Cynthia Preiser has since lost her job over the incident. Albany County DA Paul Clyne fired Preiser on Friday because he says she never informed him that the case against Ritter even existed. Prieser would not comment and Ritter has also been unavailable for comment. The case against Ritter was eventually sealed, preventing everyone from disclosing details about the case. In fact, Ritter can deny it ever happened since sealed cases essentially mean, it never happened. CNN tells Channel 6 News, Ritter is on his way to Baghdad, but will be in New York City tomorrow to shoot an anti war message.

So it appears that his "probation" was essentially nothing but a warning from the police. But notice how this article contradicts CNN's legal experts who, according to Brown, have stated that Ritter is not gagged by the fact that his record is sealed. Also, in my experience, records can be and sometimes are unsealed.
