Ronald Reagan had a 47% overall approval rating going into the elections of 1984, Ronald Reagan won by a landslide over Walter Mondale. If my memory hasn't failed me, I believe Mondale didn't win more than 30 Electorial votes in 1984.

I remember Ronald Reagan's first term very well and it was ugly and he never had the ratings this president has enjoyed. I don't see how any of the alternatives could even dream of making a serious challenge in 2004 unless GWB makes a huge mistake. One thing is for sure.... We wont have to worry about any unsavory liasons in the oval office with this president.
