In the state of New York, and in most states, that's called 2nd degree murder. I saw a case just like it once.

IIRC, 2nd Degree Murder is often called "Aggravated Manslaughter." It depends on the jurisdiction, of course.

Personally, I believe Maher's fate was just. The only injustice is the continual ranting you find on these threads, protesting his innocence.

It has gotten old--though not as old as the David Westerfield groupies' schtick got.
