Canada has decided to close its Magen David Adom (Israel Red Cross) off and decertify this organization as a charity eligible to receive aid from Canadians. Magen David helps people regardless of their religion or ethnic background.
On the other hand, the Red Crescent (the Moslem Red Cross) which only helps Muslims in the Middle East, will continue to be a recognized charity by the Canadian government.
This is clearly a political decision and we need to voice our objections to it. The decision can be reversed if enough pressure is put on the Canadian government.
It only takes a minute. Please pass this on to others.
Thanks.

Excuse me, but
gone wrong? That nation of misfits has been screwed up for some time now. Remember how they took in a crap load of American wussy, coward, draft dodging, pinko fairies during the '60s?
Gone wrong? They've been wrong for as long as I can remember. Besides, any country with that many Frogs in it has to be screwed up.

It has been reported that the Canadian Government has made a decision to deregister our organization as a charity. This has caused a great uproar among our supporters who believe in our cause and the contribution we make to the people of Israel. Articles appeared in local, national, and international newspapers. As a result, many organizations around the world were mobilized. A petition to save our organization has obtained over 43 000 signatures and the momentum is still increasing.
However, I am pleased to announce new developments which have occurred. CMDA has entered into an agreement with Charities Directorate which will enable our cause to continue uninterrupted. We are delighted that we will continue to be able to solicit the support of the Canadian community for our fund raising activities. Tax deductible receipts will be issued as usual.
On behalf of CMDA, I would like to thank all those who expressed their concern for the status of our organization.
Thank You,
Joseph Bitton
National President, CMDA

As I understand it, Canada's objection to this charity stems from the fact that their older surplus ambulances are sold on the open market and some of them are purchased by the IDF. Apparently this goes against their policy of sanctioning charities with military involvement, but I personally don't see any here.
It really bothers me how pro-active the tax authorities have been in sanctioning this charity (Canadians are still free to donate, they just won't get a receipt for tax purposes) when they had to be publicly embarassed into banning the "charitable" wing of Hezbollah.
