Hmmmm...I wonder who gave her that lead? That should prove very interesting... I'm thinking the local rumor mill. Or a court officer upset about the secrecy in the first place, inflamed by seeing Scott's mug on TV.
I wonder if the sealing of the file wasn't improper in the first place, we would ever have heard this story. That is, the first stories weren't so much about Scott, but the local news about the DA firing a long-time assistant DA because of the apparent impropriety of the process, rather than the crime itself.
Another station has news about prior indicent(s). This sounds like local LEO spilling the beans, maybe with some schadenfreude towards the DA's office.

I have been wondering about the timing of the news breaking. Ol' Scott has been doing his "anti-war" thing all over the place lately. Not to mention the little "gatherings" that were held this past the weekend. And, of course, now he's on the road to Baghdad...

Sometimes a good police officer who has been gagged by the DA's and his chief, retires.
After he/she gets their first couple of pay checks, they have coffee with a good reporter and steer them in the right direction.
Or that retired cop tells the DA that he has 24 to 48 hours blow the cover before he goes to the Federal Attorney General's offfice.
If a grand jury is meeting, a few words from a retired cop can really light a fire under a DA, Mayor and Police helping a liberal buddy like Predator Ritter!
