According to 'Joe Millionaires' s' network spokesman, [part time Construction worker/actor] Evan Mariott was paid a nominal fee for his participation in bit roles on 'Days of Our Lives', underwear modeling, and dabbling in professional wrestling in 2002.
As for how Mr. Mariott afforded rent on a $1.7 million home in Venice California where public records state he lived as recently as December 2002, the spokesman will only say he that he no longer lives there.
Hmm, we'll have to take his word for it..

'course, a $1.7 million home in Venice is probably just a rundown beach shack. $1 tract homes 15 ft apart are not uncommon around here. Sad to say.
To: Kewlhand`tek
Actually I heard he didn't get much for the show, probably only scale for the episodes he was on..

It's obviously a double switch. The guy really is a millionaire, the show "reveals" that he isn't, the bimbo dumps him, then she finds out that he's rich after all but she blew her chance. I saw this coming a long time ago.

Perhaps the house was on the beach or something?

I think he is weathly from inheritance but wont get the bucks until his family dies.
Notice that the show said that Evan 'discovered' he was wealthy, perhaps he has some long lost distant relatives?
So the girl must choose a life of temporary poverty, with money at the back end, or get rid of Joe.

I think that is so cynical! The guy is attractive, and he has a certain doofus-type charm, why shouldn't a girl genuinely care for him? After the show airs, he would have lots of exposure and job opportunities, right? I'm halfway in love with him myself. But no way would I believe he was a multi-millionaire, he just doesn't have the savoir faire!
