This all is news to me. Another example of the double standard by the media. I find this far more disturbing than Lott's off-the-cuff remarks honoring a 100-year-old man.

Not only have reporters revealed Daschle's role in the airline bailout negotiations, but they have brought to light a provision in the 2000 transportation budget that required the FAA to buy baggage-scanners from one of Daschle's clients, L-3 International. The DOT's inspector general has found the L-3 equipment to be substandard, yet the FAA now has no choice but to purchase one of L-3's scanners for every one it buys from an L-3 competitor. The L-3 machines have been so bad that the one at the Dallas-Ft. Worth airport leaked radiation, and most others purchased by the FAA have not been installed.

Off topic, but I don't think that's a balloon in that fund-raiser photo. . . . .

"...Off topic, but I don't think that's a balloon in that fund-raiser photo. . . . ." And what's the problem here?
You've never seen a balloon with a reservoir tip?
Move along now boyo... There's nothing more to see here.

The article that had the photo said it was. What do you think it is?

Thanks for posting this. It is yet another reminder of how the "party of the people" is really the party of sleaze when it comes to ethics. Toricelli, Lautenberg, Gore, Daschle and Mrs., and the former occupants of the people's house (as President Bush calls it). Dorgan and Conrad of North Dakota are similarly ethically challenged in that I believe that they both have lobbyists as wives. . .(ugh).

And that, children, was the ticking time bomb that would inevitably have exploded if the senator had sought the White House The obvious question to ask is why this should be overlooked now just because Daschle is comfortably elected as a Senator and Minority Leader?
Can you just imagine the uproar if this were Senator Frist's wife were a lobbyist and Frist was pushing her clients' legislation through the Senate (not to mention the obvious crooked deals involved) with his influence as Majority Leader?
But as we all know, there are two standards at work here: the Honest Standard and the usual Liberal Standard!

Kqql, thanks for posting this article.
Liz preempted this article by over a week with her posts re the reality of M$ Da$$hole.
"The clients for whom Linda lobbied brought more than $5.86 million into Baker, Donelson in one three-year period, including Northwest Airlines ($870,000 from 1997 through 2001) and American Airlines ($1.26 million in fees)."
This explains the terrible service and arrogance of these two airlines. Instead investing in good people, planes and services, they invested their money in M$ Da$$hole and the her midget, Senator Da$$hole.
Their investment in the Da$$holes insured that there would be no controlling legal authority when planes crashed or they decided to leave a plane load of passengers in the tarmac for most of a day in a blizzard rather than bring them and put them up in hotel until the blizzard was gone.
Any company that invested in the Da$$holes, the Clintoon'$ or the DNC is a company to avoid investing in or risking your life by using their products or services.
