I don't know about the GED or High School Diploma but the USMC took my son even though he is color blind. He failed all the test they gave him. He's not black and white color blind. He sees different colors than the rest of us. Colors change with light and darkness. I had two like that.

But they took him in the Reserves anyway and he was called to active duty last Saturday. They will not even tell us where he is going.

Do not misunderstand me. I am very proud of my son who wanted to do something for his country but I would have thought that his color blindness would have been an issue.

Did he at the very least provide a mailing address? Nothing encourages Marines [Anyone overseas] than to receive mail and even better supplies from home. His favorite candy, beef jerky, music CDs, etc etc.

It only takes a little time to do but man it really has an affect.

There was a guy on the radio last night claiming that with red-green colorblindess camoflage "stood out".

Might be a very handy skill...

Camoflage that will fool a normal-color-vision person often will stick out to a color-blind person like your son. This can be a big asset for an infantryman or a photo-recon analyst
