Families of Sniper Shooting Victims To Sue Rifle Maker
Thu Jan 16, 8:13 AM
() - The families of two sniper shooting victims will file a lawsuit Thursday against the maker of the rifle used in the attacks, and the shop where the gun was sold or stolen.
The suit is brought on by the families of James "Sonny" Buchanan and Conrad Johnson.
It alleges that Bushmaster firearms and Bull's Eye Shooter Supply of Tacoma, Washington, showed "gross negligence" that "caused injuries and death."
The owners of the store, Brian Borgelt and Charles Carr and sniper suspects John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo are also named as defendants.
The families are seeking unspecified damages.
The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence is representing the families, who are seeking unspecified damages.
Bushmaster officials say they did nothing wrong by selling the gun.
The owners of the gun shop did not comment.

This is the most stupid lawsuit. The organization and the person responsible for these killings is the US government and the bureaucrat that works for the INS that released.illegally, Malvo when he should have been detaines and deported. Who was this stupid ba$tard. What was his name and was he given a bonus for excellent performance?

It is unfortunate that, in addition to their losses in this tragic case, that these victims must now be sullied in a circus sideshow flaunting a supreme contempt for reason and law.
May this suit go the way of the others that were thrown out, and may the defendents countersue and receive attorneys' fees, expenses and punitive damages (defamation, slander, harrassment).
A sickening abuse of the legal system.

Question: There were some early reports that the gunshop that received the gun had something like 150 guns unaccounted for, including this one. I later heard it was considerably less, but still a lot. Nothing since then.
How did the gun get from the gunshop into the snipers hands? It seems like that would be reasonably easy to determine. How many people had access to the gun? Counldn't have been too many. Does anyone have any updates on this?

I think I'll sue Trojan and Durex.
They have false advertisement and they failed to work as advertised.
(Before anyone flames me, I think this is insane as well. Like it makes sense to sue the gun manufacturers. How about we sue the Beer makers for the behavior of drunk drivers? Makes about as much sense as suing the gun manufacturers.)

The gun manufacturers are responsible for every nut who shoots somebody. Right.
I think these people should sue the hospitals where they were born for bringing such idiots into the world.

I'd be willing to bet that the Brady people went to all of the victim's families and sweet talked them into suing... "Someone should pay for your loss..." "Thoise gun companies make things that intentionally kill and nor they've killed your spouse..." "We'll pay for all of the legal costs. You just sign on the dotted line and hope for a jackpot..." I doubt that these people even thought about suing. I'd bet that they were approached by the lawyers and not vice-versa.
To: spokanite
maybe they should sue every white person, because as you know the snipers were black and we (the white people) brought the black people here back when slavery was legal.
/sarcasm off
To: cincinnati65
but, man, those bullets sure packed a wallop. But only because of those evil gun powder manufacturers and brass casing manufacturers and, I guess, brass foundries in general. And what about the tire manufacturer who enabled them to drive to the scene? There's some BIG money in the tire industry...
To: 69ConvertibleFirebird
The way to stop this bull sh!! is everytime someone loses a family member in a auto accident is to sue General Motors, Ford, ect and the dealer who sold the car.
It would not be long before the powers that be would put a stop to such schannagans [sp?].

"The suit is brought on by the families of James "Sonny" Buchanan and Conrad Johnson."It seems that, as far as these two families are concerned, their
grief for their loved ones has been replaced by their greed.
I'd like to know just WHO might have suggested filing this suit.
In their case, I think they know where to find the definition of 'sympathy'.....

Everyone, show your support for Bushmaster.
Go buy one.
You won't be disappointed. They make great rifles.
