The only reason these 'civil liberties groups' are opposed to it, is that they are employed in what is called the 'asylumseeker-industry'. They are lawyers or get government funding to aid the asylumseekers. If there are less asylumseekers, their jobs might be endangered.

This is a positive step. However, it would be far more useful if Canada would take this step.

Europe is already lost. We may not be far behind.
People today are more afraid of being labelled "racist" than they are of meeting a violent death at the hands of a "sleeper" in their midst.
One can't help but notice, when watching C-Span's Washington Journal, that more than 90% of all the callers-in, who either identify themselves as black or "Addab" -- or can easily BE identified as such by their accent and speech patterns -- are vigorously, vehemently and sometimes even violently anti-Bush and anti-American in their stance on the War on Terror in particular and on the American Way of Life in general.
In my opinion these people need careful watching -- and possibly INTERNMENT -- if they keep publicly inveighing against us and in favor of our enemies in this time of war.

Idiotic that they're only fingerprinting those over age 14. The younger ones will get bigger, and youth are the prime recruiting targets for extremists.

Look at the jump in asylum seekers from 1990 to 1995, and then from 1995-2000. I think we have a problem!
I'm all for finger printing them.
