You raise some excellent points. Liberals constantly point out how hard it is to patrol the whole border but imho they miss the point. If we took away the incentive to be here illegally, and were vigilant in deporting illegals whenever they were caught, you would see a massive drop. The problem right now is they know once they've crossed the border they're home free.

We would cut out all of the welfare sponges with Luis Gonzalez's approach.

The violent criminals (gang members, etc.) can be dealt with by a variation of Project Exile.

The terrorists are best dealt with by having a strong intelligence community, a sharpened Special Operations Command, and the will to wipe out the terrorists in their foreign training camps before they can get to our shores, and then to collect intelligence so the FBI can deal with the ones we find here.

That will deal with most of the problem. But some folks won't be happy with anything less than 100%.
